Wednesday Night Match Report ⚽
⭐ Players of the Match
🖤 Black Team: Sam & Lewis
Sam is becoming a regular name whenever we talk about Player of the Match, and Wednesday was no different. He made dribbling past a couple of players look far too easy, consistently creating space for himself and finishing some really nice chances along the way. Another brilliant performance from Sam.
Lewis stepped in at the last minute and put in an absolute shift at the back. He barely put a foot wrong all game, with some really solid defensive work helping to keep the game tight between the two lines. A last-minute addition who certainly made his presence known.
❤️ Red Team: Todd & Dylan
Todd joined us for his first Wednesday session and immediately looked at home. Dropping in at both left back and right back, he played with absolute ease and looked like someone who had spent plenty of time on a football pitch before. His passing from the back helped start some really nice attacks, and he looked like an absolute pro throughout the session. What a way to introduce yourself!
Dylan was an absolute rock at centre back. A bit like a Cannavaro regen, there wasn't much getting past him. His positioning was spot on throughout the game; he was strong defensively and barely put a foot wrong. By the end of the second half, the Reds were certainly very happy to have Dylan controlling the back line.

🌙 The Match
Wednesday sessions kick off at **9pm**, which means we're now playing under the floodlights and, as we head into the colder months, definitely starting to feel the chill a little more.
That didn't stop everyone from putting in a brilliant shift, though.
Wednesday is one of our *faster-paced sessions*, so the tempo is naturally a little higher than what you'd usually expect on a Monday or Friday. And boy, was it worth it.
There was some brilliant quick passing throughout the game, plenty of runs being made in behind the defensive line and, as always, some great communication and talking between everyone on the pitch.
The first half was a really close affair, with both teams creating chances, getting shots away and managing to find the back of the net. Neither side was willing to give the other much room, and it was difficult to separate them.
It was later in the second half when things really started to open up.
The Reds managed to pull ahead as some of the Black team began to feel the effects of the amount of effort they'd put into the first half. At the same time, the Reds were starting to feel the strain of their own high-pressing style of play.
With the clock winding down, the Reds conceded late and suddenly the pressure was on to hold onto their lead.
They just about managed it.
*Final score: Red 4–3 Black.*
A proper close game right until the end.

❤️🖤 More Than The Scoreline
At the end of the day, it's not really about the scoreline.
It's not about who scores the most goals, who gets the most dribbles or who manages to sneak in the most cheeky nutmegs. Although, let's be honest, I'm always going to go for a cheeky nutmeg when the opportunity presents itself.
It's about getting out of the house for an hour and having something else to focus on.
It's about forgetting everything else going on for a little while and just having a good game of football.
And that's exactly what Wednesday's session delivered.
A massive thank you to everyone who joined us. I've genuinely loved seeing all the smiles coming off the pitch, even if there were a few more tired faces than usual!
