A fantastic start to the season for London Knights Cricket Club!
On 12th April, our entire squad came together for an exciting intra-squad game at our home ground, Hervey Road.
Great to see the full squad in action, getting valuable match practice and enjoying the game we love.
We witnessed some brilliant performances on the field, and wrapped up the day with a great team session at the pub.
Plenty of energy, laughter, and cricket spirit all around — here’s to a big season ahead!

2XI win big at home

Match Summary:
Toss: Old Elthamians 2XI elected to field

LKCC 2XI - 189/9 in 40 overs (Deepak S - 55, Siddharth P - 30)

Old Elthamians 2XI - 128 in 36.2 overs (Chintan S - 5/20 , Sanjay M - 4/27)

Put to bat first at home, LKCC openers Sid and Pushpit made a good start, putting on a 56-run partnership. Once the opening partnership was broken, LKCC lost wickets in quick succession, finding themselves at 84-6.

Skipper Vinit and his deputy Deepak rose to the occasion, putting on a much-needed 60+ run stand, propelling LKCC to 189/9 at the end of the allotted 40 overs. Deepak was the top scorer for the Knights with 55 runs.

Chasing 190, Old Elthamians started strong, putting on a 70-run partnership for the first wicket and placing themselves in a dominant position at 102/1. Resuming after the drinks break, Sanjay took the crucial wicket to break the partnership, bringing the Knights back into contention. Seizing the opportunity, LKCC duo Sanjay and Chintan bowled in tandem, grabbing 9 wickets between them and getting the Old Elthamians all out for 128 runs. Chintan grabbed a five-for for the Knights.

LKCC 2XI won by 61 runs.

Dominant win for the 1st XI

Match Summary:

LKCC 1XI - 228/7 in 40 overs (Sahil D - 118, Chintan S - 42)

Petts Wood 1st XI - 159 in 38 overs (Chintan S- 3/34, Amol W- 2/29)

Winning the toss, Petts Wood CC invited LKCC to bat first.

Petts Wood’s opening bowlers generated plenty of steam and bowled with immaculate line and length, dismissing LKCC’s openers cheaply. However, Sahil and Bilaal steadied the innings with a cautious 57-run partnership for the second wicket, guiding LKCC through a tough spell.

Once settled, Sahil, playing his first game of the season, went on the counterattack, scoring runs all over the park and making a swashbuckling 118 off 104 balls. Skipper Chintan joined the fray with a quickfire 42, helping LKCC reach 228/7.

Chasing a steep total of 229, Petts Wood’s top order started briskly, putting on 100 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Resuming after the drinks break, LKCC’s spinners, skipper Chintan and Amol, bowled in tandem and orchestrated Petts Wood’s downfall by slowing down the run rate, which forced Petts Wood’s batters to take risks and succumb to pressure. The hosts were eventually bundled out for 159 runs in 38 overs, handing LKCC a 69-run victory.

The 2XI’s dominate at Bexley Grammar School

Bexleyheath 4th XI - 148 in 36.2 overs (Kishore P - 4/15, Ganesh P - 3/13)

Opting to bat first, LKCC openers continued their good form, giving LKCC a solid start. Capitalizing on the start, walking in at number 3, Ganesh went on to score his maiden half-century for LKCC.

Contributions from the middle order and a quickfire 38 by Kishore propelled LKCC’s score to 231 for the loss of 8 wickets at the end of 40 overs.

Switching from bat to ball, Kishore opened the bowling and pegged back the hosts with two quick wickets, leaving them at 7 for 2. Continuous pressure applied by all the LKCC bowlers made run-making difficult for the hosts. A 4-for from Kishore and a 3-for from Ganesh helped LKCC win by 83 runs.

The 1XI’s gets back to winning ways at home

Match Summary:
Toss: Bromley Common CC elected to Bat

Bromley Common 3rd XI - 66/8 in 36 overs (Amol W - 3/10, Tejas S - 3/24)

LKCC 1XI - 70/2 in 16.3 overs (Bilaal H - 26, Yash G - 25*)

Bromley Common 3rd XI won the toss and elected to bat first in a reduced-over game.

LKCC opening bowlers Tejas and Sid made the visitors regret their decision by making the most of the conditions, sending the top 3 Bromley Common batters back to the hut for no score. Reeling at 0 for 3, Bromley made slow progress with not much intent.

Amol’s spell of 3 for 10 didn’t help Bromley Common’s recovery as they ended the allotted 36 overs at 66 for the loss of 8 wickets.

Chasing 67, LKCC lost Sid in the second over, but a 50+ run first-wicket stand between Yash and Bilaal took LKCC comfortably over the target.

The 2XI’s start their campaign with a win!

Match Summary:
Toss: Old Colfeians 4th XI elected to field

LKCC 2XI - 172 in 39.3 overs (M. Masood - 60, Rahul S - 48)

Old Colfeians 4th XI - 118 in 35.4 overs (Lokesh - 3/17, Ganesh P - 2/15, Deepak S - 2/18)

The 2nd XI started their campaign by traveling away to take on Old Colfeians 4th XI.

Asked to bat first, LKCC openers Masood and Rahul had a dream start to the season, putting together 97 runs. After losing Masood for 60, Rahul went on to score 48. However, the rest of the batting unit couldn’t capitalize on the start, and LKCC was eventually bowled out for 172 in 39.3 overs.

Chasing 173, Old Colfeians started off cautiously, seeing off the pacers. With the opposition dominantly placed at 63-1, Deepak, who was the wicket-keeper last season, came on to bowl and turned the tables for LKCC. His two quick wickets opened the floodgates for the Old Colfeians, who were eventually bowled out for 118.

The 1XI’s came second at the Raleys

Match Summary:
Toss: Orpington Ocelots elected to field

LKCC 1XI - 113 in 36.3 overs (Tejas S - 24, Chintan S - 21, Nitesh P - 15)

Orpington Ocelots 1st XI - 114/5 in 34.1 overs (Krishna D - 2/15, Chintan S - 1/13, Nitesh P - 1/14)

The 1st XI traveled to Raleys Cricket Ground to take on Orpington Ocelots 1st XI.

Put in to bat by the hosts, LKCC had a shaky start, losing their top order cheaply due to some good bowling and careless running.

The middle and lower order made some useful runs, taking LKCC to 113, which was 30-40 runs below par on that track.

Defending 114, LKCC opening bowlers Nitesh and Krishna gave nothing away, bowling tight lines and making run-scoring difficult. The warm weather played its part in tiring the bowlers, which the Orpington batsmen capitalized on, eventually reaching the target in the 35th over, winning by 5 wickets.

1XI’s travelled away to start their campaign in 2024 taking on Beckenham 4XI’s.

Winning the toss LKCC invited the hosts to take the first lease of the spongy slow track under overcast conditions. LKCC bowlers made most of the conditions, making run making difficult for the hosts and pe***ng them back with wickets at regular intervals. Kishore and Amol grabbed 3 wickets a piece. Beckenham ambled their way to 122/8 at the end of the allotted 40overs

Chasing 123, LKCC openers Yash and Sid, got off to flying start scoring 27 runs off the first two overs. The Beckenham bowlers were quick to respond and started hitting right lengths picking up crucial LKCC wickets.

With one run needed off the final over and just one wicket remaining, LKCC’s batters secured a tense victory by scrambling for a single off a leg bye
