🏆⚽🏆 Today saw our girls face Hampden in the league cup. With a few factors like injuries, late call offs, traffic chaos on the way hampering the warm up and team talk. It was looking like the game was lost before it even started 😬

So, we rallied them round and asked to start on the front foot, use our strengths and take the game to Hampden.

We certainly did this and got an early goal. Something which was key to settling the nerves as it's been missing from our game recently. This set up an exciting encounter which saw both teams creating chance after chance. Although after conceding a late equaliser when they brought it back to 3-3 with 5 minutes left we feared it was destined for penalties.

However, captain Molly had other ideas and fired one into the corner with 2 minutes to go!!! Brilliant brilliant performance from the girls who played their hearts out.

Occasions like this would normally be a team performance. But the girl of the match today was Molly the hatrick hero that was matched by her determination and work rate.

A special mention goes to Aimee (GK) who played her first full match outfield, she really grew into her role exceptionally well!!

With no league game this weekend our girls faced Phoenix Girl's Football Club 16's in a well contested friendly.

It was a great opportunity to give some of our fringe players well needed minutes under their belts.

We started the game on the front foot playing some good football and creating well worked chances. However, a combination of an alert and confident Phoenix GK and us leaving the shooting boots in the dressing room meant we couldn't convert. It was our opponents who took the lead with nice lob into the back of the net. We then equalised with a brilliant solo run by Eva who picked the ball up on the half way line and skipped by multiple players before slotting the ball home.

It was short lived though as Phoenix managed to add a couple more to their tally before the break. These came from a mix of good play from them and defensive errors on our part in the final third.

The second half was back and forth with both teams creating chances, albeit nothing concrete until phoenix grabbed another.

Although the game finished 4-1, the reality was a good game between two evenly balanced sides played in great spirits.

Special mention to Jessica who played her first ever game of football today. I'm sure she'll sleep well tonight. Delighted to see girls take up the sport at this age. Continue to work hard and I'm sure you'll develop very well indeed.

On a final note the girls and coaches came together to observe a minutes silence for the tragic incident which saw young Poppie lose her life this week. Everyone associated with the club send our heart felt condolences to the family 💔

We are running a LMS to raise money that will get the girls matching T-shirts, sliders, water bottles etc for their upcoming trip to participate in the Copa Costa Brava.

Usual rules for a LMS apply with £10 entry and £5 buy in of you are knocked out in the first round. Your support would be much appreciated 👍

Today saw our girls take Glasgow Girls in the Scottish Challenge Cup. Nothing like the hard start to the competition as they were Tier 1 league winners and finalists of this very cup last season. So, with us being a Tier 3 side last season we were always going to be up against it.

The message in the dressing room was to go out and enjoy yourselves, leave everything on the pitch and show us how much you love this team.

Each and everyone of them certainly did this ❤⚽🖤

Immensely proud of them, we showed grit, determination and most of all the attitude of not giving up. The score line didn't merit our girls performance and we definitely deserved a goal or 2!!

Overall it was a great learning curve that matches our plans for this season and where we are all aiming for.

Even though we couldn't fault any of them and not to single anyone out.

We think Matilda deserves a special mention. Not featuring much in the team up to now, she showed exceptional effort and a no fear attitude. Definitely giving us coaches food for thought moving forward.

Thanks to Glasgow Girls & Women FC, we certainly took a lot of positives from the game. Good luck in the next round and for the rest of the season.

𝗨𝟭6 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗦 𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 🔴⚽⚫
Our U16's and their families all enjoyed a fantastic end-of-season party last night at the Inchinnan community club 🥳

Special thanks to our coaches and parent helpers for all their hard work. And most importantly our girls, an amazing team and absolute pleasure to coach! 🙌 🙌❤️

We also welcomed Steven our Bishopton Ladies Football Club manager and his players Lisa and Jaquie to help present our trophies. Showcasing the link and connection we have for the player pathway to senior football 🤜🤛

Yesterday saw us pick up all 3 points away to Giffnock. The girls got off to a stood start when Martyna scored with a shot which the keeper fumbled in the first few minutes. This gave us confidence to go on and command the 1’st half. Albeit without adding to the scoring. It was pleasing to see the girls were learning from last week and were taking on the lessons from training.

We asked the girls to put in a big first 10 minutes at the start of the 2’nd half to try and capitalise on our lead. They certainly done so and were awarded a penalty after a great run into the box by Sophie Roger. Sophie took the penalty herself and scores with aplomb. The rest of the game was characterised by our mid-field putting great passes through to our speedy forwards as well as stout defending from our back line. Although Eva Savill hit the post, we were unable to add more goals which our play deserved.

There was no MOM today as all girls deserved equal credit for a really good team performance.

A really pleasing point was that the girls learned that their heads are not just for thinking and added the new skill of heading the ball to their game.
