The lads are coming on a treat, and it’s fantastic to see new faces still walking through the door and joining the journey that is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu 🇧🇷

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has millions of practitioners worldwide, but very few stay the course.

Around 90% of people quit at white belt.
That makes white belt the hardest belt to earn — because it means you actually walked through the door and stepped on the mats.

From 100 people who start:
• 100 begin at white
• Around 90 quit
• Only about 10 make it to blue belt — the first belt promotion

Blue belt is the first real milestone. It shows you didn’t just try BJJ… you endured it.

And there are no shortcuts in this game.

Traits built on the mats matter so much in life:

• Turning up consistently
• Playing the long game

Dog Fouling 🐕 💩

I am addressing this personally as a coach for students who train at Bishop Middleham Village Hall.

There is a persistent issue with dog fouling from the Village Hall down South View towards the brewery area. Whoever is responsible appears to believe they will not be identified. That is a serious misjudgement.

This behaviour creates a direct concern. Dog fouling is a known health risk and puts students, particularly young people, at risk of illness.

I am actively monitoring this situation and will be escalating it with the local councillor.

I’m being very clear: this must stop immediately.
It may take weeks or it may take years, but those responsible will be identified. It is not a matter of if, but when.

Students’ safety comes first. Anyone choosing to disregard that responsibility should understand that there will be consequences.
