MATCH REPORT 🟢⚪️
Today we welcomed Darlington Young Bulls to the Field of Dreams, and we started the game really well, on the front foot. We could have easily gone 2-0 up, hitting the bar with a great shot.
Then came the dreaded ball over the top, and we found ourselves 1-0 down. Unfortunately, the same thing happened again, giving the opposition a 2-0 lead.
After that, the lads finally switched on and started using the wings. Cobie came alive,got us back in the game with a goal then producing his trademark runs and causing the opposition all sorts of problems. He went on to win us a penalty and calmly slotted it away to make it 2-2
We kept pushing and got ourselves back into the game, with Cobie completing his hat-trick to make it 3-2. 🔥 Luke looked solid in midfield alongside Mick,
From there, we looked a completely different team, with some great link-up play from Grace, Henley and Cobie. Cobie went on another trademark run and won us another penalty. This time he handed the ball to Henley, who stepped up and calmly slotted it away to make it 4-2. ⚽️
We were in control, but once again the dreaded long ball over the top caused us problems and we couldn't deal with it, making it 4-3 with only a few minutes remaining.
The lads then showed great character. We started playing the ball around, closing the gaps and defending really well to see the game out.
Elijah also had a really good game for us today. 👏
💯 TEAM EFFORT TODAY WAS 110%!
Every single player grafted, battled and worked for each other, and in the end we got the 3 points we deserved.

Riverside Juniors 0–3 Coundon & Leeholme

Another really strong performance from the lads today and a deserved 3–0 win away at Riverside Juniors.

We opened the scoring through Jenson, who produced a fantastic finish into the bottom corner. The goal came after some brilliant work from Brax, who battled well in a 50/50, kept the move alive and the ball eventually dropped perfectly into Jenson’s path.

Cal then doubled the lead with some excellent movement, reading the situation brilliantly and latching onto a long ball from Cole before finishing the chance. What started as a half-clearance into a dangerous area ended up giving Cole his first assist in Coundon green 👏

We kept pushing and Kieran made it three with another fantastic finish into the bottom corner after an inch-perfect pass from Myles put him through.

Riverside did have a few half chances during the game, but anything that came our way was dealt with fantastically by our captain Ste, who was calm and reliable throughout to help secure another clean sheet.

A really good all-round team performance, three goals, three different scorers and a clean sheet to go with it. Plenty to be pleased with. 💚🤍

We are on the lookout for a couple of players still to join our u14 Sunday team now confirmed to be in TJFA division 3, team have been champions every year since starting and are capable of holding there own in the top division easy. There is opportunity for plenty of game time over the season plenty of tournaments etc, players are a cracking group and parents alike. Will consider high level u13s Mick Fieldson

HQH Summer World Cup 🏆💚🤍

Today we travelled to the north of Newcastle for the HQH Summer World Cup as part of our pre-season preparations after a month off. We entered the tournament purely to build fitness and sharpness, knowing we’d be facing some fantastic, well-established, high-level opposition.

Game 1 – Gateshead FC 4-0 L 🛑
The lads were outstanding for the opening 10 of the 16 minutes and looked the more likely side to score first. Gateshead then found the breakthrough with a good goal, our heads dropped slightly, and they quickly took advantage. The scoreline was harsh on the performance.

Game 2 – Wide Open FC 2-1 W ✅
A hard-fought battle where the lads showed great character and fully deserved the victory.

Game 3 – Wallsend Boys’ Club 1-1 D 🤝
A really unlucky result. We led for almost the entire game and looked set for another win before conceding a late penalty after the ball struck an arm from just two yards away—absolutely impossible to react. Another excellent performance.

Game 4 – Newcastle Blue Star 1-0 W ✅
A fantastic volley from Jenson secured the win in a game we controlled from start to finish.

Game 5 – Red House Farm 3-0 W ✅
The game came alive towards the end, with three quick-fire goals putting the finishing touches on an excellent group-stage performance.

We finished joint top of the group with Gateshead FC on 10 points, earning our place in the final. Unfortunately, the better team won on the day, but every single player should be incredibly proud. They represented their new club brilliantly, competed with some outstanding teams, and certainly got our name out there.

A fantastic day’s football and a brilliant start to pre-season. The future is looking very bright. 💚🤍

Kids have been seen on top of the pavilion roof up Leeholme recreation ground, I know a lot won’t see this but if they do or get relays back to them. The roof is nion 20 years old there’s a big chance that it will damage very easily or even cause a big accident for whoever is up there not been a massive Karen we’ve all been there but when that’s damaged it affects everything ourselves and Coundon cricket club are trying to do just be mindful 👍🏻👍🏻
