25/26 season comes to an end.

The Viking Boys took the challenge of playing their first 11v11 season, playing a year above their own age group.

After a very long, tough season playing all 22 games, it finally came to the end with the boys securing promotion to the Premier League! 🏆

Years of coaching this team has been a pleasure and the hard work and determination of the lads is why we are a part of it all. I really can't describe how much joy these boys give us as coaches. We would like to thank them so much as without the boys, parents, sponsors and the club, I'd not be the same person I am today. It's not just a club or a team, it is family!

Onwards and upwards for the boys, a few weeks off and we start again in September!

Friendly against Blyth Spartans.

Last game for the Viking boys today before a well deserved break, which is needed after playing a full 24 game season.

We played Blyth Spartans this morning, who are looking to step up to 11v11 football. Two good sides packed with a lot of talent.
First half the Vikings started the game well playing the ball at the back with Ethan and Lee. Nicely moving the ball into midfield getting Daniel and Leo on the move forward. A chance for Alfie after a great switch from Ozzy to Joseph, who whipped a ball in the box and Alfie nearly put the leisure center window out 🤣. A good bit of play from Blyth’s RB got the winger away and a great tackle from Daniel saw them get a free kick. A nice cross into the box saw a great piece of control from Olly Foy playing Theodore away, who beat 3 men and shot straight at the keeper.

HT 0-0

A few changes with Oliver, Ollie, Marley and Kai. Straight into action a long ball was dealt with by Kai bringing the ball out from the back setting Ollie away beating 2 and crossing for Marley who just missed the target. A goal kick from Blyth who played out and tried breaking the lines but for a great challenge from Oliver, which turned defence into attack with a lovely 1-2 with Daniel who burst past their LB and crossed, just over the bar from Alfie. A goal kick well worked by Blyth and they got in down the right to cross. A great catch and dispatch from Xander out to Theodore, who played a switch pass to Daniel, who beat his man and crossed to Theodore who almost got on the end of it, so close. A throw in won back by Theodore and a quick shot m, saved but straight to Alfie who put it top corner. Ref called offside. With 2 minutes left before the full time whistle, a long goal kick worked in our favor with Shippy dominating in the air as always, landed to Lee who switched for Leo who played a long ball for Alfie who never gave up on a lost the ball. Pressure on the keeper who kicked to Daniel who took it out the air like a bag of cement, played to Ollie who turned their CB and smashed it over the keeper from the edge of the box making it 1-0. Back to the centre, the referee blew the final whistle.

1-0 FT ⚽️

Great game and a good run out for everyone. Thanks to Blyth for hosting and good luck with everything 💚

The Vikings were on the road for the last game of the season against Washy Lions.

First half the boys played uphill and attacking against the sun. A good start, the boys passed the ball round really well and soaked up a bit pressure from the Lions. A great bit of play from Joey to Kai who played a great through ball to Jake driving past 3 players to lift over the bar. Another chance straight after, a good ball from Dan to Olly Foy who played a lovely pass to Zach who passed it back to their keeper.

0-0 HT

Second half, a few changes were made where Alfie and Charlie were brought on. They both got on the front foot with a great chance for Dan Galvin, 20 yard out half volley, where their keeper made a top class save. Off our corner the keeper sent it long where Joseph made the clearance and awarded Washy with a corner that wasn’t dealt with making it 0-1 to the Lions. The boys had a wake up call that's for sure. Our equalizer came from a great ball from Alfie to Charlie who was brought down and awarded a free kick by the referee. A bullet from Dan Galvin making it 1-1. We never took our foot off the gas after that. Wave after wave of attacks and we got in with a great pass from Alfie again, got Charlie 1v1 on the left, cut in and put it right in the top corner making it 2-1. Some lovely football from Leo and Oliver saw Ozzy cross for a corner. Charlie whipped it in, ball bouncing around and found Olly Foy, who smash it home making it 3-1.

Last 5 minutes, the boys defended well seeing the game out and finishing this season on a high.

Thanks to the Lions, lovely kids and top coaches. All the best for the rest of the season.

Thanks to our parents and sponsors 💚

The Viking boys were back in action last night against Washy Tigons away.

The one that definitely got away.

First half the boys started the game kicking up hill playing out from the back and within 5 minutes, a chance was created by Alfie to Theodore who made the keeper save low. Midway through the first half a great tackle from Kai saw their forward push him to the floor, a deliberate kick while he was on the floor directly in front of the referee, who opted for a yellow card instead of the obvious red. A free kick to us from Daniel to Leo across the field in his own half saw the referee call offside.

0-0 HT

Second half was a case of chance after chance being missed. From the kick off we won the ball back with Zach who played Daniel through to shoot past the post. Another chance from their goal kick, they tried to play out, which saw Theodore get onto a loose pass, who hit the side netting. Another goal kick which was a long ball headed down by Oliver saw Daniel bust through and a great save was made from the keeper. A cross field ball from Ozzy to Daniel who beat the full back, crossed to Zach and Theodore for a tap in, which saw another missed chance. Another chance saw a pass from Ethan to Theodore who beat 2 men into the box and what a save by their keeper.
A great corner was taken by Theodore, which saw Olly Foy get on the end of it with a great strike making it 1-0.

Last 10 minutes, it was just a kick and run long game. Kai, Joey and Lee defending really well at the back to stop their striker from breaking through. A questionable penalty that the referee did not give to the home side. A silly foul was given their way, 25 yards out saw them hit the top corner making it 1-1.
20 seconds left, a great run down the line from Theodore who got into the box and shot wide. Another long kick from their keeper saw the ball out of play for our goal kick. Goal kick taken, cleared by Tigons which gave us a throw in. A shift from Ethan saw the ball land 30 yards out and their number 9, left by him self, hit a great strike which lobbed our keeper making it 1-2. Longest 20 seconds ever played.

Referee blew the whistle full time.

Credit to Tigons who never stopped. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Thanks to the parents and sponsors 💚

LEAGUE DAY.
The Vikings boys were back on the road vs Coulby Newham

The Vikings absolutely dominated the game first half having all of the ball and should have been 4 up. We passed the ball really well and got kicked from pillow to post.
Lee, Kai, Shippy and Ozzy were unreal at the back today playing great football, getting fouled and just picking themselves up and getting on with it. Jake and Theodore were causing all sorts of problems going forward.
Dan, Leo and Olly Foy were brilliant in the middle battling hard. 2 awful tackles on Daniel in the middle saw us get a free kick.
Alfie up top was outstanding today so huge credit to him.
First goal saw Alfie break forward who neatly passed to Jake who scored perfectly in the bottom corner making it 1-0.
Back to the centre and the both teams were battling strong which seen Coulby granted a free kick. Free kick into the box and a header from Coulby making it 1-1.

1-1 HT ⚽️

Second half was just a kicking match seeing 3 yellow cards for them, with one a questionable red.
Introducing from the bench of Oliver, Joseph, Zach and Ethan who got straight into the game causing problems for Coulby. We missed a few chances and a good save off their keeper.

An elbow on Kai and a knee in the back of the head on Shippy seen another yellow card for them. There parents were on one today with one woman calling our kids a joke and a lot worse… their parents also on the pitch controlling balls that weren’t out was madness.

The boys got going popping the ball round the pitch where Coulby won the ball back. The ball pinged into our box where Kai cleared but unfortunately landed to their midfield who shot…goal making it 1-2.
The boys carried on pushing and not giving up. The referee got a hold of the game and we got back on the ball. Another attack from us saw us hit the side netting. Then came a corner which landed to one of their players who shot through a crowd and creeped in bottom corner making it 1-3.
We carried on from the off not giving up and got in behind with Zachs shot blocked.

1-3 FT ⚽️

Sometimes results don't reflect the game and it was the case for this fixture. Escomb played football from the whistle and that's how it should be done. Very proud of them today.

Well done to Coulby Newham. All the best for the rest of the season.

Thanks to our parents and sponsors 💚

Escomb Vikings vs Hebburn

A great game of football on show from both sides. Hebburn were brilliant on the pitch at times.

Unfortunately they came up against a side that were at it from the off playing out from the back with Lee and Shippy doing really well getting Ozzy and Joe away down the wings.

A loose ball saw hebburn pounce outside the box and shot low to our keeper who made a good save. Xander got us away playing in Charlie; great 1-2 with Theodore who was brought down in the box. PENALTY. Jake stepped up and hit the post.

Our 1st goal came from a great switch of play from Dan cross field to Kai who slipped Theodore through beating 3 players bursting into the box squaring it to Olly Foy making it 1-0.
A second chance came from a lovely cross from Jake whose header dropped to Theodore, unfortunately a bullet shot that went sky high. Another chance on the edge of the box, Theodore making their keeper pull off another save. A long punt up field got Hebburn a corner, taken well. Escomb cleared but landed to their midfield whose shot deflecting in.

1-1 HT

The 2nd half saw us make changes Zach, Alfie, Ethan and Leo showing instant impacts. Leo got on the ball playing it forward to Alfie who was putting himself about causing problems. Another chance early doors for Zach as Ethan swung a lovely cross into the box, what a save by their keeper. A chance for Hebburn saw Xander with a brilliant save and Shippy make a wonderful clearance. Xander got us away with Jake carrying the ball 30 yards playing in Olly Foy with a lovely pass making it 2-1.

Last 15 minutes there was more missed chances but 3 unbelievable saves from their keeper saw Hebburn put the pressure on us with long balls and long throws which the Viking boys dealt with well. A chance was coming! A long throw into the box caused absolute mayhem and like a pinball machine the ball landed, last kick of the game, to their striker. Out rushed Xander and made himself big and the shot hit his shoulder and over the bar. Final whistle blew!

2-1 FT

Good luck to hebburn for the rest of the season. Absolute brilliant game 👏🏻

Thanks to our parents and sponsors also 💚

The Viking boys were back in league action last night at home to Washy Tigons.

A very good game for the neutral showing two good footballing sides.

1st half, the boys set off playing football trying to get our strikers into the game playing through the lines. A chance came 5 minutes in with a great pass from Joseph to Theodore who drove past 2 players to lay off Ollie Foy. Great strike and great save from their keeper. From a corner to us, saw some lovely play from Ozzy and Joey, playing through the lines, which saw Daniel burst through the middle of the park and play an outside foot pass to Jake who hit the side netting. From the goal kick Washy caused a problem in the air where the ball landed to their winger who shot from distance with a great finish making it 1-0 to the away team. A wake up call for the boys. A quick fire attack from Xander to Theodore who crossed to Jake making it 1-1. A couple chances from Alfie and Charlie which were saved by their keeper. Our second came from Washy’s goal kick which landed in our half for Kai to take down playing it across the back. 12 passes, ticky tacker football between the whole team finishing with Ollie Foy in the middle of the park, who slipped in Jake making it 2-1.

HT ⚽️

Second half saw us change shape and make changes. We started strong with Washy pressing us, but we played out with Ethan and Leo, who playing Oliver in with an unreal turn in the middle of the park, set away Jake who was making a run into the box, taken down, PENALTY. Jake steps up, excellent penalty making it at hattrick 3-1.
The Game then turned a bit scrappy, a lot of fouls and corners which seen the away team grab one back from a mistake at the near post making it 3-2.

Last 5 minutes saw the boys playing into the channels to Daniel who carried the ball 40 yards who passed to Zach who was fouled on the edge of the box. Strike from Charlie which just went wide.

Final whistle was blew 3-2!

Thanks to Washy Tigons, great parent, great kids and great coaches. Great game 👏🏻

Thanks to our parents and sponsors 💚

Onto the next which sees us back at home against Hebburn on Thursday.

The Vikings were on the road yesterday against Teeside Juniors.

Few lads missing and a few changes needed.

A night to forget for the boys where we had a lot to prove after our last game against a strong team.
A bad defeat and a learning curve for the boys which we will bounce back stronger. Alot of poor mistakes which lead to goals which ain't like us. No excuses we just weren't at the races.
We are the same in victory and defeat....... We go again! 💚

Finally......Game on

Escomb vs Beamish, a very tough physical side who were definitely up for a battle.

A 3G pitch with a bit of dust on it, not great but credit to the ref and the opposition coaches for going ahead.

The 1st half saw the Viking boys knocking the ball all over the pitch, keeping it well, attacking down the right with Charlie and Theodore. Not long into the game the 1st goal came, brilliant from Ozzy with a switch to Oliver who set Jake to race though and score with a clever finish. 1-0
2nd goal was scored straight after their kick off some great play from Shippy & Ollie Foy who played Jake down the line to cross. Theodore who caught it on the half volley, from the cross, his shot went top corner, bar and in 🔥. 2-0
The 3rd was a moment to forget for their keeper a quick bit play from Kai to Ollie Foy to play Zack in. 35 yards out a shin roller that bounces over their keeper 🤦🏻‍♂️. 3-0
The 4th was one of those goals ... You had to be there to witness it 🫣, Barcelona of old 7 passes starting from Xander and ended up in their box with Galvin crossing for Ollie Foy to smash home. 4-0
A few subs for us seen us change shape to a 3.5.2 and it paid off. Ethan getting on the ball, playing it early to the 🐂 Alfie who laid it off to Leo to score. 5-0 HT

The 2nd half was pretty much the same as the first. Our 6th came with brilliant play again from Joe to find Jakey, who’s great pass through to Galvin nearly took the goal off 🚀. 6-0
The Beamish boys battles well and created a couple chances and after a mix up the ref awarded a pen for Beamish .... SAVE the cat Xander, unbelievable. He then got us away, which seen Theodore take the ball down on the half way line and drive past 3 players into the box.... Pen to us. Theodore gets up and slots it home. 7-0.
Another not long after from Leo, an absolutely top class 25 yard screamer over the keeper. 8.0.
The final goal was just a pump up field with a bit of luck, Alfie got hold of it and played it though to Charlie for a tap in. 9-0 FT

Great performance from the boys.

Thanks to our parents and our sponsors.
