Birstall Village Cricket Club Our 2s have seen promotion in 2022 from Division 7 east to Division 6 east and have maintained themselve in this league since then.

Winning the Leicesterhire & Rutlands Cricket League Division 4 east, coming runners up in the same division and winning Leicestershire Senior League 4 times in the last 15 years and enjoying success in our midweek sides, we always strive for success! Before the three Leicestershire Cricket Leagues amalgamated in 2014, Both our 1XI & 2XI had great success in the Leicestershire Senior Cricket League

in both the Premier Division & Division 2, having won the premier division title as recently as 2011 and 4 times after that (2003, 2006, 2009 & 2011). Since then we have seen the 1s have reached the highest position in most recent history of Division 3 East with finishing top of Division 4 east in 2024 and achiever promotion in Division 4 east in 2022. We also play on a Thursday in the Loughborough Evening League where we have enjoyed great success since we started. The location of the ground makes it ideal to to play cricket and enjoy the long summer evenings in our bar while the children play on the park. This weekend we are only seeing one game being played due to the Birstall Gala being hosted on our ground. The 1s are away to Leicester Caribbeans 2s. After last weeks loss, the lads are itching to comeback to winning ways so if you are around, please come down and support the lads to 25 points!

Mixed bag of results this weekend.

The 1s showed plenty of fight but were unable to defend a low total against Barkby United CC 2XI. Positives saw some good batting from Deepak Samgi (29) and Prad Sood (28) but overall Barkby finished the game on a high.

A thriller at Meadow Lane as the 2s defended 181 to claim victory by the narrowest of margins. Great batting from Ketul Darji (59), Delvin Tandel (35) and Sagar Bamani (33) and also saw some strong bowling from Kish Jiwa (3-27) and Dips Pancholi (2-17). This result moves our boys to the top of their league!

🏏 T20 Shield Update – BVCC 1XI
A tough night on Tuesday 9 June 2026 for Birstall Village CC 1XI, who unfortunately bow out of the T20 Shield after an 8‑wicket defeat to Ashby Hastings CC 2XI.

BVCC posted 91 all out, with valuable contributions from:
• Sunil Odedra – 19
• Deepak Samgi – 16
• Prad Sood – 14

Ashby Hastings chased down the target, finishing on 92‑2, despite a strong spell from Dhrumil Mistry (2‑19).

Not the result the lads were hoping for, but plenty of positives to take forward as we refocus on the league campaign. The effort, commitment, and spirit remain as strong as ever.

🏏 BVCC Weekend Results – Both Sides Win on DLS!
A fantastic Saturday for Birstall Village CC, with both our 1s and 2s bringing home the points after weather interruptions meant revised DLS targets.

1st XI vs Whetstone CC 1XI
Our 1s were set a revised target of 180 to win under DLS, and the lads chased it down brilliantly to secure a 6‑wicket victory.
Superb batting from Jay Patel (69)* and Ravi Rohilla (61) led the way, keeping the innings calm and controlled throughout.

2nd XI vs Houghton & Thurnby CC 3XI
The 2s were given a revised target of 103 to win under DLS, and they made no mistake, cruising home by 7 wickets.
A solid knock from Y. Chandarana (35)* anchored the chase, with great support from the rest of the top order.

Two wins, two strong performances, and momentum building nicely across the club.

T20 Cup – BVCC 1XI vs Maher CC 1XI
A brilliant win for the 1st XI, defending 169 to beat Maher CC by 12 runs.
Strong batting contributions from Deepak Samgi (35), Parvez Patel (31)*, and Sunil Odedra (26) set things up, before the bowlers held their nerve with Prad Sood (3-11) and Parvez Patel (3-20) leading the way.
This win puts us through to the next round where we face Ashby Hastings CC at home next Tuesday. Let’s pack out the boundary and get behind the lads.

Challenge Cup – BVCC 1XI vs Dunton Bassett CC 1XI
A tough day in the Challenge Cup as the 1s fell to a strong Dunton Bassett side and exit the competition.
Despite the result, there were battling efforts with the ball from Parvez Patel (3-52), Hardik Patel (2-32) and Kish Jiwa (2-52).
We regroup, refocus, and go again in the league.

League Cricket – BVCC 2XI vs Electricity Sports CC 3XI
A superb win for the 2nd XI, chasing down 158 to win by 3 wickets.
Ketul Darji (58)* anchored the chase brilliantly, supported by Tejas Shah (20) and Dips Pancholi (19).
Earlier, Apurav Kumar (3-19) and Delvin Tandel (2-50) kept things tight with the ball.
Momentum building nicely for the 2s.

🏏 BVCC – T20 Cup Matchday & Weekend Outlook

A triple whammy of cricket this week for the village!

It’s the first T20 Cup match of the season today, and the lads are ready to put on a show under the shorter‑format pressure.

Our 2nd XI are especially fired up, looking to bounce back after last week’s result and get themselves right back on track with a statement performance.

And the momentum matters — because this Sunday we head into the next round of the Challenge Cup against an in‑form Dunton Bassett side who haven’t lost a game this season. A huge opportunity for the Village to make their mark.

Plenty of cricket, plenty of excitement, and plenty to play for.

This Friday night, Birstall Village CC are back under the lights as we take on Maher CC at School Lane in the T20 Shield.

The bar opens from 6 PM, the food will be hot, the music will be on, and the atmosphere will be pure Village spirit.
Bring your family, bring your mates, and let’s pack out the boundary with noise, laughs, and support for the lads.

A brilliant all‑round performance from the BVCC 1XI, securing a strong 5‑wicket win away at County Officers CC.

County Officers posted 161-9, with the Village bowlers keeping things tight throughout:
