Look, I get it. We’ve all been there, standing in the kitchen or the classroom, heart rate climbing, wondering why on earth this kid is making everything so hard.
But before you react, I want you to stop. Just for a second.
The "Problem Child" or a Child with a Problem?
We’re so quick to reach for a label because it’s easier than reaching for the truth. We see:
The one who refuses to listen, and we call them "stubborn."
The one who pushes every boundary, and we call them "defiant."
The one who explodes at the tiniest thing, and we call them "dramatic."
But what if that "stubbornness" is actually a paralysing fear of failing? What if that "defiance" is just a kid who feels completely out of control?

The Battle You Can't See
Behind the behaviour that drives us crazy is a child who is drowning in emotions they don't have the vocabulary to explain yet.
Beneath the anger is usually a heart that’s hurting.
Beneath the "attitude" is often a nervous system on high alert.
When we stop trying to "fix" the behavior and start trying to understand the human, the entire energy in the room shifts. The war ends because you’ve finally stopped fighting the symptoms and started helping the child.
There is a better way.
If you’ve ever felt deep down that shouting louder isn't the answer, but you aren't sure what is—I’d love to show you a different path.
