TOMORROW, two of our athletes Caroline and Ant () head to .

Ant takes on the 10k, and after months of hard work, will be looking to break the 40 minute barrier for the first time. Based on some of Ant’s sessions, we know he has got a big run in him.

Caroline is racing in the Half Marathon event, and is looking for a new PB, and to run continuously.

Both athletes have progressed significantly the past 12 weeks as part of , and we cannot wait to see how they get on.

Best of luck to both! 🤞⭐️

Running Economy (RE) | How do we measure it?

After a short break, we continue our insightful running wisdom series, giving you the knowledge to improve your training.

This week our sports scientist Ollie explains how we measure running economy👇

🗣️ "We can determine running economy by measuring the amount of oxygen that is being utilised by the body for a given running speed. We collect data over a sustained period of 4 minutes to allow the measurements to be taken when the body is in a state of steady oxygen consumption and energy utilisation.

Running economy is expressed as ml/kg/min. The amount of oxygen (ml) utilised to move the body (kg) at a given speed (min). The more economical you are, the less oxygen you consume for a given running speed and the lower the value for running economy.

The BRP team will assess your running economy at different running speeds and analyse the data following your test and then interpret the data into running terms
