A positive and resilient performance from the Rovers sees us earn a well-deserved point away at Rusthall to finish the season.
The first half was a cagey affair, with few chances for either side as we went into the break level.
The second half brought plenty more action and started with a major blow for the Rovers, as Sam picked up an injury after colliding with the Rusthall striker while claiming a forward ball. That meant Charlie Brown had to step in goal after a solid first half at centre back.
Rusthall took the lead shortly after in controversial fashion, as we felt Seb was fouled on the edge of the box before play continued and the hosts found the net.
James was then sin-binned for dissent, leaving us down to 10 men for 10 minutes, but the lads dug deep and stayed in the game under pressure.
Back at full strength, we pushed for an equaliser. James had a good effort saved before Matt fired the rebound just over the bar.
Our deserved equaliser finally came late on when Max delivered a dangerous ball into the box that Rusthall failed to clear, allowing Issa to react quickest and calmly finish into the corner for 1-1.
We nearly snatched the winner in the dying moments too, but Issa was unfortunate to lose his footing after rounding the keeper.
Honourable mentions go to Lou and Jon, but MOTM goes to Charlie Brown for stepping up when needed and putting in a great display both at centre back and in goal. ๐ย
That result means we finish 7th in our first season back in Division 1. Plenty of positives build on heading into next season.
Big things coming for the Rovers, stay tuned for updates as we near pre season in July! ๐๐ค
