Movement for health and wellbeing.

Take a moment to notice the movements that are not as accessible as they used to be and reflect on why that may be. Then turn your attention to the movements you wish to keep or return to. Now start the necessaru steps to restore your movement and maintain it.

You can bring about habits that serve you well.

Yoga in Bexleyheath. Movement for health and wellbeing over aesthetics.

Classes I deliver will give you time with your body. You will be given a longer time to enter a pose, to feel it, adjust if you need to make it just right for you.

Throughout this term, we will develop greater awareness of spinal position and mobility, exploring how subtle adjustments to the gaze and chin can influence alignment, balance and ease within a pose.

You can see me adjust foot position to help me find my twist and for a comfortable position for my tricky knee.

Additional classes starting from Wed 3 June in Welling, Kent.

Our pose focus this half term has been looking at Hanumanasana/Monkey Splits.

As a child Hanuman was exceptionally strong and mischievous. His high-energy pranks often disrupted the meditation and religious rituals of sages (rishis).

To curb his behaviour and protect a sage placed a curse on him. The curse stated that he would remain unaware of his own prowess until someone reminded him of his true potential at the right moment.

I often think of how we move and how much we enjoy movement as children. We are then put in a seat for school, for work, for our hobbies and we forget the wonderful potential our bodies have to move.

Our practice has been to be curious about how we can move our bodies and follow the sensation of the strength and stretch while resisting attachment to the image of splits.

Still 2 weeks of sessions left before we change focus.
