Marathon day. What can I say? I am still coming to terms with it. It takes over your life from all the training runs for 20 weeks. Running early mornings, late nights, wet, cold, what ever the weather, non-negotiable. Fitting in around family time thanks to and my boys for putting up with me training and leaving them for long run Sundays. But all the training was worth it! Being able to run it to my best ability whilst still taking a lot of the sights and atmosphere in the whole way along the course was amazing and to finish it safely and injury free was a massive bonus. The crowds were unbelievable the whole way round and definitely keep you going through the hard bits. Saw a lot of people collapse due to the heat on the day or need medical attention for injuries along the way which was sad and they wouldn’t have been able to finish the run. So I’m thankful I got the chance to do it on my 40th year and with my Mum on my top and looking down on me the whole way. It’s something I’ll never forget and would love to do again. If you haven’t done one and are having second thoughts then don’t as it’s definitely worth it you’ll have a great experience!
