Christmas is most definitely on its way. I always find the run up to the big day the best time. It feels like there is so much hope in the air. With the fairy lights lit, pressies wrapped and all those naughty but nice snacks tempting you what more could you need.

With the kids now home from school I’ll have my hands full making the Yule log, gingerbread and anything else my youngest can think of. Happy times!

All that’s left to say to those of you that have trusted me to move you, breathe with you and play for you is a Big Thank You. I never knew work could be so much fun. It’s been a delight meeting those new to my world and getting to know my long term clients even better.

Life is busy. Juggling everyone’s diaries and the never ending to do list. You keep going longing for the next holiday.

Reread that for me.

Is that really how you want life to feel?

To change how you want to live you need to hit the pause button. Step out of the day to day chaos and create space, time and quiet for your soul to just breathe.

It’s in this space that you reconnect to what lights you up. How you want your days to feel and how you want your life to look.

It is a choice you have to consciously make. You have to choose You. Which can be easier said than done. With that choice can come guilt, especially if you feel responsible for others.

Know this… by pausing you will
be a better mum, wife, daughter and friend. I guarantee it.

In pausing you reconnect to who you really are. You relax and nourish yourself. You refill your cup. The transformation is priceless.

My By Lucy retreat to Puglia in October was created for this. It is not just a Pilates and joyful energy healing retreat. It is a space to Pause, be supported, well fed, connect with like minded souls and find as much quiet as you need in beautiful surroundings.

So which team are you?

Personally I think if we’re all honest we are a little of both.

We have those moments of longing to fit in and conforming to what we think that means. Meeting the new school mums or starting a new job. You want to be part of the gang. It’s only when you have your feet in the door you relax and those green unique traits show.

I’m always in awe of those who are fully green. People who are unashamedly themselves in those tricky situations. Brave and comfy enough in their own skin to find their people in whichever crowd they’re in.

Showing your uniqueness makes you vulnerable and open. It helps build relationships with others.

The common theme through all of my offers is community. Finding other people on the same wavelength as you that you would happily go to a Pilates class with and then pop for a coffee and a natter afterwards.

I had two such ladies that join me on retreat this year. They met in class, hit it off with a warm sense of humour and shared a room on retreat.

A small change makes the biggest inpact.

This week after talking to my nutritionist, the amazing and down to earth Rebecca I decided to change the sound my alarm makes.

Simple and small right.

I changed it to birdsong.

I’d been listening to the radio as they’d discussed research about how the noise we wake up to affects the rest of our day. It had intrigued me so I’d discussed it with Rebecca who agreed.

Birdsong has a soothing effect on our nervous system. Back in caveman days if the birds were singing then they were safe from predators. Through generations it has the same effect, it triggers us to feel safe.

A week in and it’s a keeper.

Now just to convince my husband to change his as he often gets up before me - wish me luck!

Does anyone else feel life is a little hectic at the moment? Trying to juggle all the things life throws at you without dropping the ball. Exhausting yourself in the process. Running from one task to the next and constantly multitasking. At the end of the day collapsing onto the sofa with a glass of wine and a bar of chocolate to watch TV. Sound familiar?

Trying to look after yourself and everyone else at the same time, whilst doing a good job at work can be hard. That guilt you feel when you try and put yourself first.

Sometimes you just need a break. Time to rest. To spend time being taken care of. With no-one calling your name every 5 seconds. To find peace and quiet and when you fancy it joy and laughter.

To remember what it feels like to just be you again. To cast your mind back and remember that girl who was always first up to dance. To sit with a warm cup of coffee and a biscuit and just admire the view.

If this sounds like the break you need why not come on retreat with me. Everything is on your terms. Join a class, go for a walk or sit with a coffee - the choice is yours. No need to make lunches or plan dinner it’s all sorted. Worried to come on retreat alone then this is for you…

We’ve all been there. You see the invite and immediately want to sign up. You can see yourself there taking some time out. You start asking your friends and no-one else can make the date. You feel disheartened and put the idea to one side. Missing out on a weekend of pure relaxation.

Imagine what would happen if you flipped that and booked just for you.

After a leisurely car or train journey you’d be met at the venue by me. You may feel slightly awkward as you make small talk with the other guests about the weather or journey here. As you all get settled in at some point someone always makes a joke or something funny happens and the ice breaks. The tension you feel evaporates. You relax, find your room, meet your roomie and come and join me for a welcoming circle in the studio.

Over the next few days you’ll get to know everyone there. You’ll make new friends who you may even go on retreat next time with. You’ll share experiences and connect with people you may not otherwise have met.

On the last day you’ll leave with lots of wonderful memories feeling relaxed, restored and rejuvenated. Wondering why you ever worried about it.

You only have to make the brave step once to know it’s true. Afterwards you’ll be jumping at these opportunities and open yourself up to so many more experiences.

Music often takes you to a memory. Be it a time/place/person. That song that you can’t help but dance along to or makes you cry every time.

Have you ever taken the time to close your eyes and really listen to it. Notice how it makes you feel. How does your heartbeat, breath and emotions change in different parts of the song. Maybe you’ll see it in a completely different light!

I attended my Level 2 Sound Healing course with the amazing Janie of two weeks ago. Janie beautifully held the space for us to explore and find out how we like to create music. Weaving the science and spirituality of sound together in such a way that my mind is still absorbing it all.

I will never listen to U2’s ‘With or without you’ in the same way.

I was so lucky to be taking the course alongside so many like minded souls who supported each other as we travelled this journey together.

Are you feeling restless in your mind and in need of a refresh?

Spring is a time to reawaken the senses and revitalise your body after hibernating throughout the Winter season. To open your eyes to see the emerging growth around you and the rebirth of life. Movement and breathwork clear blocked stagnant energy and air, reviving your zest for life. Essential oils and meditation guide you to the path you want to follow. A Spring clean for the senses!

Spring is the seasonal New Year. A time to blossom just like nature around us. It brings our focus to nourishing our liver. The liver breaks down, balances and creates nutrients. It helps us to detoxify and keeps everything flowing, be that our emotions, energy or blood. We will use movement to shake out and clear the toxins, to reinvigorate your body. Using breathing techniques we will invite in fresh nourishing air to balance the body and calm the mind. To close our evening we will meditate to reset and revitalise our whole being.

This is the year of the Yang Wood Dragon. It’s energy welcomes in strength and vitality. A year of having the confidence and courage to start new beginnings or make breakthroughs if you wish to. The combination practices help to revitalise and open you up to new opportunities. Blended throughout these practices are specifically chosen essential oils for the season. They help your body and mind relax and dive deeper within. Releasing patterns or habits that no longer serve you to make space for good things to come.

I invite you to spend 90 minutes with me to explore gentle mindful movement, pilates, breathwork, meditation and essential oils. You will leave feeling deeply relaxed and reconnected to yourself. Ready to go out into the world and bloom.
