One of the things I spend the longest thinking about when I’m planning a retreat is how much not to put into the schedule.
Of course there are Pilates sessions, shared meals and experiences that we’ll enjoy together, but I never want anyone to feel as though they have to rush from one thing to the next just because it’s written on a timetable.
Some people will spend an afternoon reading by the pool. Others will take a walk through the vineyards or simply sit with a coffee and enjoy the sunshine.
There isn’t a right way to spend that time.
I think so much of everyday life is already planned for us. We spend our days looking after other people, making decisions and thinking about what’s next.
For a few days, I want that to be different.
Sometimes the most restorative thing isn’t another activity. It’s having the freedom to choose exactly what you need in that moment.
