⛳️Mens’ Results Roundup – April & May 2026⛳️
We are now well into major competition season at Clwb Golff Betws-y-coed Golf Club, with major club competitions being played weekly.
Here is a roundup of the early season results for the mens’ section….
THE MASTERS (2025)
The season kicked off on Saturday 4th April with The 2025 Masters trophy, which had been postponed at the back end of last year due to the inclement weather!
This trophy is open to all major competition winners during the (2025) season, which meant that the crème de la crème were competing for the bragging rights!
Eifion Davies took home the “green jacket” with a nett 64, beating Robin Hughes into 2nd place by one shot, with Chris Wynn finishing in third place with a nett 67. Congratulations Eifion 👏

APRIL MONTHLY MEDAL
The following Saturday saw the May Monthly Medal competed for.
Chris Wynn maintained his early season form, improving two places on the previous week to claim victory with a -1 nett 63, beating Jack Williams into 2nd place by a single shot, with Chris Roberts a further shot back in third place. Well done Chris 👏

PRYS JONES & BOOTH TROPHY
On Saturday 18th April an 18 hole Stableford was played for the Prys Jones & Booth Trophy.
Eifion Morris prevailed in tough conditions to score 35 points and take victory by two shots from Alwyn Lewis and Arfon Wynne, in second and third places respectively, on 33 points. Da iawn Eifion 👏

BOB PARRY CUP
Once again it was a man in form who took home the Bob Parry Cup on the 25th April. Arfon Wynne, who had also finished third the previous week, claiming a clear 3-stroke victory with an excellent nett score of 63. Rich Pauline followed Arfon home with a nett 66, and Jeff Williams took third place a shot further back. Da iawn Arfon 👏

MAY MONTHLY MEDAL
We sprung into May with the monthly medal on the 2nd day of the month, and victory went to “Angry” Aaron Ratcliffe with a nett score of 65! Betws-y-coed’s very own Bryson Dechambeau made the most of recent coaching sessions to gain victory by a single stroke from Ian Poole and Ricky Morris who finished in 2nd and 3rd places. Congratulations Aaron 👏

LEGAL CUP
Our next board comp of the season was the Legal Cup and provided a very popular victor, as Jamie Turner claimed a very timely victory. Jamie’s son Elis was born a few short days before the competition, and had obviously been sleeping well as Jamie carded an excellent -2 score of 62. Colin Clarke was the runner-up with a nett 63, and Robin Hughes finished in 3rd place with a 64. Well done Jamie 👏 , and congratulations to Jamie, Bethan and Cadi on the birth of Elis “bach”. ❤️

WEST BROMWICH TROPHY
Inspired by an evening drinking in the “Old Shammy” in Macclesfield a few weeks prior, Jack Williams hooked the West Bromwich trophy on the 16th May with a score of 35 points. Paul Williams finished a shot back in second place, whilst Owen Davis was third on 33 points. Congratulations Jack 👏

MEDICAL CUP
Again people following recent form would have been in the money backing the runners in the Medical Cup, as “Angry” Aaron followed up his win a fortnight before, by claiming victory with an excellent 38 points. The previous week’s champion Jack Williams finished a shot back in 2nd place, whilst the “evergreen” Dave Thomas finally seemed to have overcome in exertions in Morocco and Portugal to take third spot with 36 points. Well done again Bryson 🤣 👏

ERIC WOOD TROPHY
And so to last weekend and a trophy that holds a special place in so many people’s hearts. The Eric Wood Trophy played in memory of a special man who was so highly thought of, not just at BYCGC but around the north Wales golfing scene.
It was very fitting that the competition was won with an excellent score of 61 nett (-3) by Chris Wynn. Anthony Mason and John Jones both carded level par scores of 64 in 2nd and 3rd places, which also saw John claim victory in the Rabbits Cup which was played for on the same day.
Congratulations to both Chris and John 👏👏
As always thanks to the competitions committee for all of their hard work and organisation, and to the greens staff and supporting team for presenting the course in such fantastic condition. ❤️
I will aim to provide more regular updates throughout the season from now on. Ladies and Seniors roundups will also appear on here very soon. 🏌️
