Ever notice how everyone starts a fitness journey with the enthusiasm of a golden retriever… and then two weeks later they’re negotiating with themselves about whether walking to the fridge counts as steps?
That’s why I always ask people: what’s your WHY?
Not the Instagram‑influencer answer.
The real one.
The “I want to keep up with my kids”, “my knees sound like bubble wrap”, or “I’d quite like to survive a flight of stairs without questioning all my life choices” kind of answer.
Your WHY is the thing that keeps you going when motivation packs its bags and disappears, which it absolutely will. Motivation is unreliable. Your WHY isn’t.
So if you’re getting back into training, starting fresh, or just trying to remember where your gym shoes are… take a second and think about what actually drives you.
And if your WHY is “because I want to feel better”, that’s more than enough.
