Staying fit and healthy over the holidays? Challenge accepted! 🎄 Here are 6 ways to keep your wellness game strong during the festive season: 1) Indulge in moderation - savour those holiday treats, but don't overdo it!
2) Get moving - take a brisk walk or do some at home exercises.
3) Stay hydrated - drink plenty of water.
4) Prioritize sleep - aim for at least 7-8 hours a night.
5) Practice mindful eating - be present and enjoy every bite.
6) Don't forget to have fun and relax! 🤶🏽

My long awaited trip to New Zealand 🇳🇿 …my homeland!

It’s a (very) long haul flight with a short stopover in Singapore.

I’ll be unpacking my gym kit as soon as I get there for a long walk to get the benefits of movement and to help reset my circadian rhythm to adjust to the 12 hour time difference.

Here’s what else I pack to keep myself fit and healthy on holiday:

✈️ Gym kit and trainers: I opt for light and easy dry leggings and tops which can be washed and dried quickly.

✈️ Resistance bands: There’s not always a gym available, but resistance bands mean that I can keep up my strength work.

✈️ Supplements: My fruit and veg capsules from JuicePlus give me peace of mind even when I’m not able to eat as much fruit and veg as I would at home. I also take my Omega 3 and Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc tablets to keep my energy levels topped up and to boost my immunity.

✈️ Protein bars : Essential for any long waits in airports - a quick and tasty protein boost which is way healthier and cheaper than an airport snack.

⭐️ STRONG SHOULDERS⭐️

You don’t need to be able to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders, but having strong shoulders will help you with loads of daily activities such as:
lifting shopping bags, hefting kids around (if they’re still small enough to heft!), putting bags in overhead lockers, dragging the wheelie bins out and less mundane things like playing like tennis 🎾 or pickleball and doing yoga 🧘‍♂️

Plus strong shoulders and correct alignment do wonders for your POSTURE, combating the roundness that comes from time of screens and driving.

So it makes sense to keep your shoulders strong, stable and mobile!

I’m using 2kg dumbbells here but you can go heavier or lighter depending on how strong your shoulders feel.

If you’re new to strength training or you have limited range of movement, try these moves initially without any weights.

Mobilise your shoulders for 1-2 minutes with shoulder rolls and shrugs. Then, pick up your weights….
👉Front raise - 10 reps
👉Lateral raise - 10 reps
👉Shoulder press - 10 reps
👉Sword pulls - 10 reps each arm
👉Steering wheel - 20 seconds
Repeat circuit 2-3 times.

So often when we’re busy we think we don’t have time to do certain things (especially the “good for us” things like regular exercise, eating well and getting enough sleep) as they just feel like ‘extras’ on top of an already full plate. But the truth is that often we’re not prioritising the very things that will help us get through our days without feeling like we’re being ground down by life.

🧡The things you prioritise you can generally find time for🧡

What can you prioritise this month?

Exercise?
Sleep?�Rest?�Eating well?�Drinking less?

You absolutely don’t have to nail the whole list - just pick one aspect of your health to focus on for the rest of this month and see if you can make that a priority by carving out a bit of time each day/week to fit it in.
