THE RESULTS

Even though it wasn’t the results we were hoping for, there were still plenty of positives on the ice.

Well done to Holly Brookes who scored the first goal for the Leeds Thorns this season, earning her the team’s player.

The hardest worker goes to Chloe Lavery who consistently put in the graft up and down the ice.

Our little miss sunshine award went to Enya Cooper who constantly kept the positivity flowing and keeping spirits up.

The player of the match went to Grace Eggett for her relentless back checking.

Our debuts:
Kate Gleave donned the blue and white for the thorns for her first game after transferring from Manchester Storm.

Eliza Abdy, Chloe Lavery and Sam Trinder stepped onto the ice for their first ever senior game.

NEW SIGNING ANNOUNCEMENTS! 🚨

Joining us in the blue and white are Kate Gleave #85 and Sara Connelly #89 for the 2026/2027 season!

You may already know Kate from her social media work raising awareness for women’s ice hockey across the UK. Her hockey journey began with the BUIHA Manchester Metros before more recently joining Storm Women. We’re thrilled to welcome Kate to Thorns, where she’ll continue developing her game as a dynamic two-way forward.

Sara has been playing recreational hockey for 3 years, starting with the Blackburn Renegades 2 and the Altrincham Aardvarx.
She then took the next step in her hockey journey, spending last season with Manchester Storm Women.

Over the past year, Sara has made the move to playing centre, developing her game and bringing energy, determination and hard work to the ice.
We’re delighted to have Sara as part of the team and can’t wait to see what she brings this season!
