A football club is about far more than the 11 players who step onto the pitch every Saturday.

Behind the scenes at Bedwas FC, there’s a brilliant group of people giving up their time, putting in the hours and doing everything they can to keep both our teams moving forward. ⚽️👏

From organising the club and preparing kits, to coaching, first aid, photography and everything that happens on a matchday — we couldn’t do it without them.

Bedwas FC are proud to announce that Jaden Richards is sponsored for the 2026/27 season by Sad-Dog Mental Health Awareness training . 🐾🧠

SAD-DOG’s mission is simple but incredibly important:

“Making uncomfortable mental health conversations comfortable.”

SAD-DOG works with businesses to help create workplaces where people feel safe to talk about their mental health and seek support when they need it. They provide mental health awareness and first aid training for managers and staff, helping people develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to recognise signs of mental distress, offer appropriate support and actively promote positive mental health in the workplace.

Mental health first aid isn’t about diagnosing mental illness — it’s about understanding, listening and knowing how to support someone who may be struggling or experiencing a crisis.

🔥⚽ MATCH REPORT | RISCA DEVELOPMENT 7–3 BEDWAS FC RESERVES ⚽🔥

The Bedwas FC Reserves travelled back down to Risca Leisure Centre to face Risca Development, with the squad stretched to the absolute limit.

A bare 11 made the trip, with Super Moonhead the only option available to provide cover from the bench.

It wasn’t the start the Reserves were hoping for, as the home side raced into a 3–0 lead with some well-worked goals. However, just when it looked like things could get away from us, Jordy gave Bedwas a lifeline, smashing a brilliant strike into the top-right corner to make it 3–1! 🚀⚽

That goal sparked hope, but Risca responded with another before half-time to make it 4–1 at the break.

A quick team talk at half-time, but there was absolutely no faulting the effort from the boys. Every single player was giving everything they had, with several lads playing through injuries and putting their bodies on the line for the badge rather than letting their teammates down. 🖤💛

The Reserves came flying out for the second half, and once again it was Jordy who found the back of the net to bring the score back to 4–2! Another bright start gave Bedwas something to fight for, but Risca eventually stretched their lead to 6–2.

With Shay Powell having battled through an injury for as long as he could, Kieron was brought on to make his Bedwas Reserves debut. You couldn’t fault the lad’s effort — non-stop running from the moment he stepped onto the pitch! 💪

And just two minutes into his debut, Kieron was involved in a move that produced Bedwas’ third goal.

The ball came up to Mac, who did brilliantly to lay it off to debutant Charlie Bryant. Charlie then picked out a lovely pass through to Jordy, who kept his composure and slotted it home to complete his HAT-TRICK! ⚽⚽⚽🔥

Risca would have the final say, adding another late on to make it 7–3 at the final whistle.

Not the result the Reserves wanted, but there is plenty to be proud of. With players missing and the squad down to the bare bones, the boys never stopped working.

Playing through injuries. Covering every blade of grass. Putting their bodies on the line. Giving absolutely everything for the badge.

The effort simply cannot be faulted. 👏🖤💛

The lads can hold their heads high. This group has already shown plenty of character, and with the season still only just getting started, there is a lot more to come from this team.

We learn. We regroup. We go again. 💪
