The summer holidays are over, the pencils are sharpened and the classrooms are filling up again… Sorry teachers, it’s happening.

Small independent darts shops are the best place for beginners to try before they buy and get advice on equipment for people who know what they’re talking about. This is my local darts shop and I always tell people to head over there and see their range. Support local!

Whilst travelling around this week I stumbled across a venue that had something I’d not seen in person before.

This is a Manchester board, darts are still thrown at it but it’s a very different game. As the name suggests it’s only really played in Manchester and traditionally they were log ends, they require moistness and often need spraying in the middle of a game.

The board is smaller than that of a traditional London board that most people will be familiar with, it’s hung lower and thrown from a shorter distance.

Unfortunately I didn’t get chance to throw at the board- have you ever played on one?

One thing I’ve always believed is that the best coaches never stop learning. If I want my clients to keep improving, I need to do the same.

This year, my focus has been on the mental side of the game, and I’m delighted to have started adding Hypnotherapy to my coaching toolkit, this is only the beginning but It’s another way I can help players overcome mental barriers, build confidence, improve focus, and perform at their best when it matters most.

I’m excited to bring these new skills into my coaching and continue giving my clients every possible advantage.

The learning never stops. The standards never drop. The progress never slows.
