🚣WINTER🚣

Sadly, the time has come that Mordros has moved to her winter home in Percuil

We’ve been looking at bringing her around for a few weeks now and the perfect weather window arose on Friday. A hardy group of 7 rowers set off from Tatams in the early afternoon and in glorious conditions of blue skies and flat waters safely rowed Mordros to Percuil where, after a bit of uplifting/celebratory singing, the crew were met by a gang of other members to help lift her on to the trolleys and wheel her up the slipway

Thanks also to committee member James who drove the trolleys and other kit round

Last Saturday morning a crew of 7 set off early from Tatams beach and rowed all the way out to Gull Rock and back. The GBRC Gig, ‘Mordros’ was accompanied by Chris and Catherine Thomas’ boat, ‘Moroula’, who kindly took GBRC members that wanted to support the crew on their journey.

On returning to Tatams, spirits were sky high from the adventure and members are still thrilled a week later!

We are still accepting new members and we have opened up more opportunities to get out for a row with Club sessions taking place on a Wednesday and Friday night as well as Sunday mornings.

We are coming up to our first birthday!! We can’t quite believe a year has passed since our launch day but what a first year it’s been!

We have welcomed over 80 members to the club, gained some incredible supporters and been on some fantastic adventures! But the journey is only just beginning with so much more to come!

To celebrate this milestone and the start of our second year of memberships we are hosting a beach BBQ on Sunday 1st June from 11am. This is also a fundraising event with both rowers and non-rowers invited to join us for a beer and a burger.

If you’ve seen the gig out and been thinking of giving rowing a go, head on down on Sunday and join us! No previous experience needed and lots of advice and welcoming tips will be on hand!

We will also be launching our newest addition to the club, our newly refurbished skiff! A great addition to our fleet that can be taken out in groups of 3 in the coming summer months!

We hope you can join us and look forward to seeing you on the beach!

🚣LAST WEDNESDAY🚣

With the dark nights coming in, Wednesday night opportunities have been getting shorter. The clocks are changing on Sunday and sadly there won’t be enough light for anymore evening sessions.

Our members had a lovely (and lumpy) row on our last Wednesday night of 2024.

Mordros will be out next on Sunday morning, for a mini adventure around to St Mawes for our neighbouring club’s social rowing event!

Summer social has been postponed due to the weather forcast for Sunday. Please let anyone not on social media
To celebrate a fantastic first summer, come and join us on Tatams Beach this Sunday between 11:30 am and 3 pm for a BBQ and refreshing drinks.

If you live in Gerrans Parish, have enjoyed watching the gig in the bay, and have been contemplating participating or simply backing the club, this is an excellent opportunity to connect with our rowing and social members and delve into the club’s vibrant community.

Burgers, sausages, and beverages will all be on offer on a donation basis to support the club.

We are excited to see you all!

📝THERE IS STILL TIME TO SIGN UP📝

If you are a resident of Gerrans Parish and didn’t make the launch day but want to be a member of the rowing club, it’s still not too late!

Our first club morning will be held on Sunday 2nd June from Tatams Beach. If you would like to try before you commit to membership, please let us know.

Annual memberships start on the 1st June 2024. If you are interested in becoming a rowing member, social member or even just want some more information, please drop us a direct message or email us on [email protected]

The GBRC coxswains had a fantastic morning training with our lead coxswain Chay, making sure that all of our new members are in safe hands and are guided on the water consistently - the weather and water conditions were so good, they obviously had to take the Gig out to test their coxing abilities….
