Don’t forget pool session tonight.

Current technique focus is streamlined breathing, using shoulder movement and arm stretch to reduce head lifting in breath . Then returning head straight back to down after the breath, before or with the arm passing the head and without having a sneaky forward look.

This keeps hips high and whole body streamlining allowing stroke consistency through breathing cycle.

Results in more efficient faster swimming.

New swimmer’s comments after first pool session with Team Devon Sea Swim this week where we worked on efficient switching from streamline on one side, to streamline on the other, keeping extension and stretch and full shoulder rotation until hand passes the head. If done correctly you can feel what I call “the zoomies” where you feel power, speed and forward momentum for very little effort by effective timing of the whole body’s movements together.

Every day’s a school day. Swimmers learn’t to move their shoulder blades While maintaining streamline, with a quick flip and stretch onto next stroke. This improves track, distance per stroke, efficiency and speed when done right. Think boxing and archery! Oh and dry arm pit! Then you have it.

For me it was flying a drone for the first time! Shame I cut most of the group out of the shots. Thanks Andrew for this learning🤩
