Hi All, I’ve recently got into playing Padel Tennis, currently the fastest growing sport in the UK. It’s described as a cross between Doubles Tennis and Squash - a lot easier to play in my opinion (and more fun) as the ball stays in play for longer as you can play off the glass back walls and sides which are a mix of glass and mesh. It is played by all ages (from 4 upwards and having spoken to a number of more senior players, it’s a lot easier on your knees than Tennis or Squash)
The rules are very similar to Tennis but you can hit the ball off the back and sides wall (so long as it bounces first) and serves are taken underarm. You can find out more about Padel here https://www.lta.org.uk/play/ways-to-play/padel/ and where to play. The current closest courts to Ninfield are in Rye (which is a 45 minute drive) and I would love to explore the option of building a public court in Ninfield.
As to where this would be located in Ninfield or how it would be funded is yet to be determined but I am keen just to keen to see if there is interest in making this happen.
Padel is a form of tennis that’s rapidly growing across Europe. Find out more about the sport and discover where you can book a padel court across the UK.
