🔵⚽️BLUES vs BARROW ISLAND⚽️🔵

St James School was the rather soggy destination for today’s game against a vastly improved Barrow Island team. Just Oliver missing from the squad today.

The Blues played really well with some slick passing and moving creating plenty of chances to score. The defence was solid and played some great passes out to set off our attacks.

Dylan pulled off some great saves in goal and some booming kicks down the field. Had some good efforts on goal while playing on the left wing.

Jack played well in defence making some well timed tackles and as always was a threat up front bagging himself a well taken goal from outside the box ⚽️.

Jacob was his usual calm self at the back always in the right place to make a tackle as well as posing a threat at corners.

Orla was a menace on the left wing the whole game making some brilliant runs and turning the defenders inside out.

Rex worked hard on the right wing and was determined to get on the scoresheet going close a few times. Set up Liv’s goal with a cross to the back post.

Jax played his usual all action game making tackles and passing the ball around the field. Opened the scoring with a neat finish into the bottom corner ⚽️.

Freddy is growing massively in confidence on the ball which was shown when he made a fantastic run before passing to Rex to set up Liv’s goal.

Liv carried on where she left off the last game by working hard off the ball as well as playing some smart passes in the final 3rd. A great performance was capped off with a beautiful finish at the back post ⚽️.

Charlie had little to do when in goal. A bit of quick thinking from a kick in ended with a really smart finish past the keeper before adding a second goal with a nice strike later on ⚽️⚽️.

JJ’s confidence has come on leaps and bounds the last couple of months and today’s game showcased it brilliantly with some really good footwork on the touchline to skip past the opposition.

George as usual never stopped running and was always on hand to break up attacks. Some excellent runs with the ball caused havoc.

It was an excellent display all round today with the team playing some great football and scoring some really good goals.

PPOTM today went to Liv who was fantastic the whole game and scored a brilliant goal after some great work from Freddy and Rex down the right wing ⚽️🏆

POTM was Orla who worked tirelessly down the wing and ran the defenders ragged with some mazy runs. Unlucky not to get a goal today 🏆

After a great morning of football the team had their Christmas Party 🎄🎄 at LaserTag to run off a bit more energy before refuelling themselves with a McDonalds 🍔🍟

🔵⚽️ BLUES vs WANDERERS⚽️🔵

After an impeccable minutes silence from both sides for Remembrance Day both teams took to the field in what was a close fought game.

Dylan, Liv and Oliver all pulled off some impressive saves in goal.

Jax, Freddy and Jacob were absolute rocks in defence making some great tackles and playing some great balls out.

On the wings JJ, Rex and Orla worked tirelessly tracking back to defend as well as creating problems for the Wanderers defenders.

Liv, Charlie and Jack caused the defence problems the whole game and went close to scoring on numerous occasions.

Jax scored an absolute beauty of a goal from the edge of the area ⚽️.

POTM went to Jacob for some fine defending at the back 🏆

PPOTM was a split decision with Charlie and Jax taking the votes 🏆🏆

⚽️🔵BLUES vs HOLKER HURRICANES🔵⚽️

First game of the season saw us take on a very good Holker Hurricanes side on Biggar Bank which started with a minutes silence for the leagues vice president Joe Gardner who sadly passed away recently. It was observed impeccably by both teams.

It was a very close game with both teams playing some great football and moving the ball around well.

Dylan made some fantastic saves in goal and cleared the ball well. Some good runs with the ball whilst playing in midfield which set us off in attack.

George was fresh off the plane from holiday and as usual gave his all making some great tackles at the back and some brilliant runs up the wing.

Jacob was relentless in defence and midfield today making some ferocious tackles and taking no prisoners. Played some good passes after the winning the ball.

Oliver was busy in midfield winning the ball and playing some neat 1-2 passes to get us up the field. Great effort from him today after completing the walk to remember last night.

Jack was everywhere today making some important tackles and some great runs up the pitch. Was unlucky with a thunderous shot that forced the keeper to pull off a brilliant save.

Charlie was another who made some great tackles in defence and some silky footwork to slip past the opposition. Played some nice balls down the wing.

JJ started the game as captain after taking trainer of the week. Got stuck in well winning the ball in midfield and making a couple of good runs that caused the Holker defence problems.

Liv made a couple of outstanding saves in goal and did well tracking back to win the ball. Another that was unlucky not to get a goal after going close a couple of times.

Jaxon proved he can play anywhere on the pitch with some excellent saves in goal, some crucial tackles in defence as well as some excellent through balls to the attackers.

Orla was outstanding today in a tough game against her old team. Never backed off from a tackle and wasn’t afraid to take on the defenders making some brilliant runs which deserved a goal.

Some really positive signs on the pitch today with some of the things we’ve been working on in training really starting to show. There was a bit of rustiness after not playing for a while but that’s to be expected and the effort was there for all to see from every player.

Parents POTM today went to Jacob who put in some crunching tackles and played some really neat passes. Forced off in the last 10 minutes after being stood on but had already done enough to take the votes 🏆

POTM was the Birthday Girl Orla who never let the occasion phase her to put in a fantastic performance all over the pitch 🏆

New season meant new kits and the team looked great wearing them for the first time today.

🔵⚽️BLUES vs VICKERSTOWN REDS⚽️🔵

Our first pre season friendly saw the Blues take on Vickerstown Reds on Biggar Bank in what is always a close fought game.

Missing George and JJ who were both unavailable due to holidays meant just the one sub so plenty of runnning for the whole team to get some match fitness 😂.

The whole team were outstanding with everyone of them sticking to their positions and it was brilliant to see some of the work in training paying off in the pitch. The defence was solid with non of the keepers having much to do but some of the distribution was top notch. The midfield battled hard and won the ball high up the pitch putting pressure on the defence. The strikers worked tirelessly chasing everything and created plenty of shooting chances.

Dylan
Had little to do in goal and worked hard in midfield winning the ball back and setting off attacks. Unlucky with an effort that that looked destined for the top corner. Also a great assist for Jaxon’s goal.

Jacob
Made some important tackles at the back and in midfield where he was constantly snapping at the oppositions ankles giving them no time on the ball.

Jaxon
Playing his first game in a Blues shirt and looked like he had been there for years. Was an absolute rock at the back and great composure on the ball. Bagged his first goal and assist in a Blues shirt ⚽️.

Oliver
Showed great energy getting up and down the pitch. Some excellent crosses and passing. Scored our last goal with a neat finish past the keeper ⚽️.

Jack
Full of running and seemed to be everywhere on the pitch. Excellent at the back making some great tackles. Chipped in with his first goal of the season to open the scoring ⚽️.

Charlie
Another who stood firm at the back making countless tackles. Some excellent footwork and dribbling throughout the game. Great run and finish to get on the scoresheet ⚽️.

Orla
Another making her debut in Blue tonight and she looked right at home. Always in the right place to receive a pass and not afraid to make a tackle. Some excellent runs down the wing and brilliant crosses. Will only get better once she settles in.

Liv
Excellent performance from Liv tonight. Got stuck in against some bigger players and showed her strength. Ball just would not go in for her tonight with numerous efforts going close. 2 assists for Charlie and Oliver to top off a great display.

A great team performance tonight with everyone putting in 100% effort. The defence was absolutely outstanding with everyone playing a part. Some brilliant passing and moving and good to see some of the hard work in training transfer to the pitch.

This was probably one the hardest POTM awards to pick and could really have gone to anyone today. In the end it was split between the 2 debutants who showed they are going to be great assets to the Blues. 🏆🏆
