Rats put best foot forward on finals day! 🐀 💙💛

Wow what a day and 2 great performances, with the squad thin through holidays and injuries the rats was down to the minimum of 11 and with potentially a few of the lads having a sore heads from securing promotion the day before we all was unsure what to expect but they delivered in the beautiful ☀️ down at braunton CC

Having watched the end of the first semi final where 420 runs was scored the boys knew they would have to bowl well and be efficient with the bat which at points of this season we have struggled to do.

The tuskers wanted to bat first and rats was happy bowling so no toss was needed, tuskers being 52/2 off the powerplay managed to get to 140 all out ( hilly 3-37, T Poole 2-18) a score the lads was happy to chase

Gally and Craigo started off the second innings well being 65 off the powerplay without loss, Gally departing for his favourite 44 before Drew (who did well to even see the ball) finished it off with a swift 38, Craigo 24 and the run chase was over in 15 overs!

Much the same for the final, no Toss required foxes happy to set a score for the rats to chase…

Rats started on fire with Joe Hastie taking 2 wickets in the powerplay and Tom Poole following him with another 33-3 off the first 6 rats firmly in charge, foxes managed to get a few partnerships together with Boydy showing his class scoring 37 off 21 taking the foxes up to 149 off there 20 overs

Change of openers for the rats with Craig hurting his shoulder, BP9 stepped up and didn’t waste anytime in doing so, rats off to a flyer 62-2 off the first 6 but the innings was always fully under control with a superb knock from Gally who stepped up and took the responsibility on getting the rats within touching distance before departing for 44 🙄, rats reached the 150 needed with 23 balls to spare 🏆 2 really good performances!

Gally was tremendous all day and was rats player of the day 🤩

Must be mentioned credit to the ground staff down braunton, an absolute road for a pub and club finals day 👏

So that’s a wrap!!! time for the winter and cold to come and the boca boys to head back to football!!

Rats win the league for the 3rd time on the spin 💙💛

With the last game of the season being agreed to be postponed due to the eclipse (disappointing) the rats shared the points which was enough to make them 2026/2027 league champions!

Skipper Nashy shared his thoughts: “buzzing with the lads to be able to top the league of what has been a really competitive league this season with some proper sides, we have got out of some sticky situations to win games we probably shouldn’t of…. Personally the league is something that reflects the whole season and shows who has been the most consistent overall, we don’t have a lot of depth with a small squad but to still be able to use people who in some form of a way are connected to boca wether it be on the pitch or off the pitch has been great! We look forward to a shot at finals day Sunday”

The lads are second game on Sunday at braunton - 1pm start, any support is welcome 🤗

10am - Braunton vs the foxes
1pm - Boca vs Indian Tuskers
4pm the final

Not the best nights work put in by the rats who got off to a good start by taking regular wickets and reducing the foxes to 131 at halfway the rats probably thought they was in a good position but ultimately 131 turned out to be a half decent score on the surface!

Sloppy fielding, not applying themselves properly with the bat and some good bowling by the fox lads was the undoing of the boys on a cold evening at Raleigh meadow…

Well done to the foxes, good bunch of guys and got a deserved win…. Rats much improvement needed..

Thank you to those who have come down supported and had a laugh with the lads

Next Wednesday is our final home league game… Eclipse depending 🤨

Matchday 11 vs the Reds

Munden and Toop takeover 🎣

Losing the toss for the 6th game in a row the reds decided to have a bat at Raleigh meadow and got off in good fashion being 46/1 off the power play, always difficult to defend at Raleigh meadow in the pub league 😉 regular wickets managed to hold the reds to 162/8 probably 20 light when Dave Branch was going well….. Joe Toop the pick of the rats bowlers 2/14 off 2 overs bowling really well!

Rats started the run chase well enough 50/2 off the powerplay before Drewy put his foot down and put the game to bed within 5 overs taking a liking to there left arm spinner but the moment of the night belonged to Brad ‘Onion’ Munden walking in with 12 needed, scoring 0 runs in 4 attempts this season Brads new approach of screw this paid off, a monumental cheer when he hit the first ball for 4 but an even bigger cheer when he cleared the Saturday longest boundary by 5 ft 👏

Great for all the lads to watch but also credit to Toopy and Brad who every week turn up and keep giving it there all, also 2 lads that never miss a net session and you can see there cricket has improved a mile 👏 👏

Next game is tomorrow night at home vs the fremington foxes 🦊
