OUTPLAYING 1V1

OUTPLAYING in its simplest form means to win your personal 1v1 battle maintaining the ball while under defensive pressure.

OUTPLAYING incorporates lots of elements, the use of the body, the position of the arms, twisting and turning and safe manoeuvres to get out of trouble.

Success in individual 1v1 scenarios is highly important for the team to able to maintain collective possession as a whole.

It would be very difficult to break lines of pressure, create chances and score without this ability.

Unskilled players who are not able to keep the ball in these 1v1 scenarios when pressured will cause a possession style of football to fail.

We must recognize that OUTPLAYING looks different for each position, examples include…

A STRIKER’S outplaying techniques will predominantly be pressure behind to hold the ball up or twist and turn in the box.

A DEFENDER will normally be pressed from the front thus shaping up to play a full back and cutting inside to step in.

A DEEP LYING MIDFIELDER would normally be pressed from behind.

INDIVIDUAL POSSESSION = TEAM POSSESSION

As we bring the 24/25 season to a close and take a short break, it's been truly humbling to reflect on what has been an incredible year at DuelTec.

Just over a year ago, we launched the DuelTec Coaching Programme — and what a journey it’s been!

We’ve had the privilege of working with some truly dedicated and passionate young players, all committed to improving their game and pushing towards the next level.

A huge thank you also goes out to the amazing parents and families who support their children every step of the way — your commitment makes a massive difference, and we’re proud to work alongside you.
