Just a summer day in the life of a & pony 😊

First time he’s ever needed clipping but that heat was just too much for him still to have a thick winter coat 🙈🔥

He was a star, I didn’t push his sensitive areas and left it a relaxed experience for him 😎

He even got his tail washed when he went back to the house 😇

Happy birthday whizz, turning 17 today and I didn’t think this winter we would get you here ❤️

☀️ Hot days = time in shaded areas

🥵 Hot days = sloppy feeds & add electrolytes

🌡️ Hot days = extra water needs to be available 💧

🐴 Hot days = adjusting exercise times

🔥Hot days = keeping them cool 💦

‼️ Common warning signs of heat stress include:

* Heavy or stopped sweating
* Fast breathing that doesn’t settle
* Weakness or wobbliness
* High temperature
* Depression or refusal to eat/drink

Don’t hesitate at this point, call your vet‼️

⚠️ Equine flu cases are on the rise, and I want to assure my clients that I am taking steps to prevent the spread of disease.

I will be continuing to

🚦Risk assess yards before visiting

🚧Changing clothing between yards

🧼Washing and sanitising hands between yards

⚠️ Disinfecting my boots, wheels and equipment regularly

❌ Avoiding unnecessary contact with horses and equipment

📈 Monitoring current outbreaks

Equine flu is highly contagious, but with the right steps, you can help protect your horse and others on your yard. I encourage all of my clients to check their horse’s vaccination status and check their horse’s temperature regularly.

If you notice any signs of illness isolate your horse straight away and contact your vet promptly. I am here to support all my clients so please reach out if you have any concerns or questions, but I ask that you’re honest with me if you’re aware of outbreaks in your area.
