It was cup semi-final day for a team who have worked so hard all season to make it here. With the league still also fully on the table a strong 16 player squad was named!

A quick start saw Banwell pile the pressure on a Frome team looking to create chances on the break. Early pressure saw a trademark Lottie corner find the flying eagle Nicki to nod home 1-0. This goal was quickly followed by a great flowing team move finding Natt Robertson with minimal space in the box, only for her to find it and finish emphatically past the Frome keeper 2-0. The relentless 20 minutes spell saw Banwell make it 3-0 with a Chloe Williams cross/ shot (it was definitely a cross as she was overheard saying ‘now I think about it I think I shot’).

The game quickly running away from Frome however to their credit they changed formation and started to create chances expertly dealt with by Nicki, Jas, Izzy and Bridget at the back with support from stand in (and stood up to the task) Courtney in goal. Frome did get what they deserved just before half time with a well taken finish.

With warnings of a potential fight back on the cards the girls quickly came out in the second half and put all doubt to bed, emphatically! Goal 4 came from the blistering pace of Chloe on the right wing crossing to Lucy on the left to tap home The fifth soon followed after a slightly harsh penalty was given after Demi decided taking someone’s head off is way more fun than scoring a goal. Cooley smashed home by Lottie ’Set piece specialist’ Lewis (also goes by captain fantastic). This was followed by a perfect example of what we as coaches are looking for in all the girls with piece of art play, in which almost all outfield players touched to ball to be emphatically thumped home by Natt!

She wasn’t done there as she finished the game with a penalty and well deserved Hattrick, if we didn’t need them I’m sure she would have deserved to take the ball home. Player of the match from both coaches and players was well deserved.

All 16 girls from those who started to those who came on did themselves and the club proud!

Onto the final on 10th of May! Be there or be square ❤️🖤
