The lads welcomed North Kelvin Utd to mayfield today, kicking off our 26/27 league campaign.

A dominating performance from our lads sees us pick up 3 points in our first league game of the season.

The team were absolutely outstanding, controlled the game from start to finish apart from to periods where we switched off leading to our opponents scoring two goals of their own.

Some absolutely outstanding individual performances from everyone today, strikers Ewan Cullen and Barry Weir getting on the scoresheet again today. Debutant Evan Cairney getting himself on the scoresheet as well and young Liam Cunningham coming off the bench to provide a bit more energy down the flanks and grabbing himself a goal with a lovely finish with the outside of the foot.

Referee has awarded MOTM to centre half Darren Somerville who also put in a solid performance at the back.

The boys have set the bar for the rest of the season but the main thing is we’re off to a winning start for this seasons league campaign.

Today the team welcomed Gleniffer Thistle to mayfield and what a game it was. It’s hard to put in to words a summary that describes this game and how the team performed but we will try.

First half the boys struggled with the physicality of our opponents and found ourselves second to every ball and losing the majority of our duels across the pitch. Unfortunately in the first half we lost 4 boys to injuries, one of which was goalkeeper Connor Higgins, and were forced into making changes. With the difficulties we were facing and the impact of the injuries sustained we found ourselves 4-0 down at half time.

Second half was a slow starter again and we found ourselves 5-0 down around the 55 minute mark. However, something clicked with the lads and things were working like clock work slowly but surely we started eating away at the deficit with goal after goal and got our equaliser with stoppage time to go. We had a chance to grab the win late on but ultimately the game went to penalties to see who took all 3 points.

It’s hard to describe a feeling after a game like this from a coaches point of view. There is plenty to work on however the overwhelming sense of pride in these boys can’t go unnoticed. To come back from a 5 goal deficit when the odds are stacked against you and take home 3 points shows tremendous character and our lads fully deserve to enjoy the rest of the weekend 👌

Man of the match today goes to Barry Weir. Phenomenal performance from him 🌟

Not the start to the season our lads would have wanted, beaten on the day by the better team and congratulations to Glasgow Athletic and we wish them the best for the season ahead.

Quick turnaround for the lads this week though as they prepare to travel through and face St Cadocs in their next league cup fixture.

The day is finally here, our lads kick off the 26/27 season with a home fixture in the league cup against Glasgow Athletic.

This is a much changed side going into the new season with a few new faces and some others returning to the team for the upcoming season ⚽️

KO is at 12pm, get along to the mayfield centre and show the lads plenty of support 👌

This is the result of this months bonus ball draw, congratulations to our winner Mark Fraser.

Due to the circumstances surrounding this months draw Mark has kindly decided not to take the winnings and has instead donated them back to the club.

Due to us not realising there was now two draw in the lotto, we have decided going forward including this draw that we will just use a number generator each month.

Hope this isn’t an inconvenience for everyone involved. We feel this is the right thing to do as it’s unfair to split the winning between two different draws.

This months generated number will be will be posted in a moment.
