What is Sports & Remedial Therapy?
Itβs a question I get asked a lot at SD Sports & Injury Clinic.
A lot of people assume itβs βjust a sports massage,β but itβs so much more than that.
Sports & Remedial Therapy focuses on assessing, treating and managing muscle, tendon and joint problems. Whether youβre an athlete, someone who enjoys staying active, or youβre simply dealing with everyday aches and pains, treatment is tailored to your individual needs.
At SD Sports & Injury Clinic, sessions may include:
β’ Hands-on soft tissue therapy and massage
β’ Joint mobilisation techniques
β’ Stretching and mobility work
β’ Injury assessment and rehabilitation
β’ Advice on movement, posture and activity
β’ Exercise prescription to help you recover and stay stronger
One of the biggest strengths of Sports & Remedial Therapy is how well it works alongside physiotherapy and strength & conditioning.
Physiotherapists are experts in structured rehab and of diagnosing injuries/ medical conditions, while strength & conditioning coaches focus on improving performance, resilience and long-term physical capacity.
As a Sports & Remedial Therapist, my role complements both by helping reduce pain, improve tissue quality, restore movement and support your body throughout the rehabilitation and training process.
When these approaches work together, you often get the best results:
βοΈ Better movement
βοΈ Reduced pain and stiffness
βοΈ Improved recovery
βοΈ Greater strength and resilience
βοΈ A lower risk of future injuries
Recovery isnβt about one treatment or one profession having all the answers. Itβs about using the right combination of skills to help you move better, feel better and get back to doing what you enjoy.
At SD Sports & Injury Clinic, I believe in working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and coaches to ensure you receive the best possible care.
If youβre not sure which approach is right for you, Iβm always happy to have a chat and point you in the right direction.
