Longford Marathon 🏃‍♂️

The Longford Marathon takes in, single-lap route through the Midlands, passing through Longford, Roscommon and Leitrim on mainly rural roads. With around 147ft of elevation, a course that can be good for chasing a PB — although there’s always plenty to deal with over 26.2 miles!

Huge congratulations to James McLornon, who ran an excellent 3:24:18 today, taking a brilliant 3-minute PB 👏

His second marathon of the year following Belfast, and another fantastic performance.

To come away with a PB after already running a marathon earlier in the year shows serious consistency and hard work.

Fleck Soars in ‘Spread Your Wings' Mountain Race!

Ballymena Runners’ William Fleck produced another strong performance in the mountains on Saturday (29th), finishing in the top 10 at the inaugural NIMRA League 'Spread Your Wings' Mountain Race in the Western Mournes.

Starting from Sandy Brae, Attical, the challenging 11km course featured a testing 768m of ascent, taking runners over Slievemageogh, Pigeon, Slievemoughanmore and Eagle Mountain before a steep descent back to the finish.

Wet weather made for difficult conditions, with poor visibility adding to the challenge on the mountainous terrain.

William delivered an excellent performance to secure a top-10 overall finish and, in the process, claim victory in his age category.

A great result for William in the first running of what promises to be a challenging addition to the NIMRA League calendar.

Finally, thanks to Alan Magee and NIMRA for staging a great event.
