🏁 MARRIOTT MOTORSPORT | SCUNTHORPE 🏁

We’re heading to Eddie Wright Raceway, Scunthorpe this weekend with YorStox, with just two Marriott Motorsport cars making the trip.

🏁 428 Tim Walker
🏁 289 Jake Walker

It’s a big night for the BriSCA F1s with the Consolation Semi Final taking centre stage and the final 3 places on the World Final grid up for grabs.

Neither of our lads will be involved in the Semi, so it’s a normal race night for Tim and Jake as they look to get stuck in and see what results we can come away with.

And just to make things interesting, the forecast looks absolutely horrendous 🌧️😂

Stock cars, shale, and plenty of rain… what could possibly go wrong!

See you at Scunny! 🏁

Kings Lynn always delivers a brilliant atmosphere for the BriSCA F1 World Championship Semi Final weekend, and with three Marriott Motorsport cars in action, we were hoping for a strong showing. As ever, the shale had other ideas.

Richard was in action on Saturday only. His evening was hampered by persistent engine overheating issues, which made it difficult to build any momentum. Despite that, the car showed encouraging pace when everything was working, giving us plenty of positives to take away.

Tim endured a frustrating weekend chasing electrical gremlins that seemed determined to test everyone’s patience. Credit to the team for sticking with it, eventually getting on top of the problem ahead of Sunday’s Consolation. After an early spin, the car settled down well and the pace was finally starting to show. Unfortunately, a little too much enthusiasm saw him find the wall, damaging the radiator and right rear suspension, bringing the weekend to an early end and ending any hopes of a points finish.

Jake had another action packed weekend. Saturday started with a first corner tangle in Heat 1 before recovering well to finish seventh. A solid run in the Final followed, bringing home a top ten finish, before handling issues after losing a lap forced retirement from the Grand National.

Sunday began much better with second place in the Whites and Yellows, although not before collecting a marker tyre in memorable fashion. Heat 2 ended early with a flat inside rear tyre, and in the Consolation, while running second, boiling fuel on the restart dropped him back before a determined recovery to ninth. The Final ended with an encounter with the wall and a brief flying lesson, while the Grand National was over before it really got going after a first corner spin.

It wasn’t the results we were hoping for, but there were plenty of positives to build on. The pace is there, reliability is getting better, and as Jake summed it up perfectly, “more speed required.”

Finally, a huge congratulations to Kyle Gray on a superb, hard fought Semi Final victory. A thoroughly deserved win, and we wish him the very best as he lines up on the front row of this year’s BriSCA F1 World Championship Final.

As always, a massive thank you to everyone who helps keep the cars on track, and to all the fans who came over to support us throughout the weekend, especially Andy Shaw and his Lad Andrew for being on the spanners and Kirstie Lou unwavering support the whole weekend when the racing was not going Tim’s way with car issues!

We’ll get the spanner’s and welder out, make a few repairs, and come back stronger at the next one.

Jake Walker - Getting snapped looking like Maverick on the set of the next top gun is our favourite photo of the weekend! “Goose, I’ll slam on the brakes and they’ll fly straight by!”

Huge shout out to the Sponsors who’s continued support makes all of this possible!

Next weekend Marriott Motorsport heads to the Adrian Flux Arena, King’s Lynn, for one of the biggest weekends on the BriSCA calendar, the F1 World Championship Semi Final.

Richard, Tim and Jake will all be representing the team across the weekend as they take on the famous King’s Lynn shale against a top quality field from across the country.

With World Final qualification on the line, every race, every point and every finish matters. While drivers will naturally have one eye on booking their place in the biggest race of the season, the competition is always fierce and King’s Lynn never fails to provide a fantastic spectacle.

We’re expecting a bumper crowd over the weekend, so if you’re making the trip, come and say hello in the pits. We can’t wait to get back on one of the best shale tracks in the country and see what the weekend brings.

See you all at King’s Lynn. 🏁💙

European Championship weekend done and dusted at Mildenhall Stadium 🏁

A busy weekend for Marriott Motorsport with Tim in the 428 F1, Jake in the 289 F1, and Alan in the 42 F2.

The results might not tell the full story, but there was plenty of speed in all three cars across the weekend.

Tim was on it from the off, leading every race he started from the white grade and showing strong pace all weekend. Saturday brought a 14th in the heats, a Consolation finish battling steering issues, and a solid 10th in the Grand National. Sunday looked promising too, but heavy contact while running up front ended his weekend early, frustrating after earning a place in the European Last Chance race.

Jake had a tough start to the weekend, narrowly missing out on qualification spots on Saturday with a 9th in the heat and 6th in the Consolation, before finishing 8th in the GN. Sunday was a big improvement with a strong 3rd in the heat, showing the pace was coming back, before damage in the Final dented his chances. He still rounded off the weekend with a 7th in the GN. After time out of the seat while the car was being refreshed, it was a solid return with plenty to build on.

Alan had a frustrating weekend in the F2s, with spins and contact ending both days early. The car looked quick in clean air, but the busy grid just didn’t fall our way.

Results-wise, it wasn’t the weekend we were chasing, but there were plenty of positives, some great racing, and even better company.

Huge thanks to Mark, Liam, Danny, Clare, Ellie, Kirstie, and Andy for all the help and support over the weekend. We also confirmed that Liam really does like fancy food 😉🍽️

Massive thanks as always to our sponsors, Stubwood UK, TET, RIWS, DSL and SJ Boyd Transport, for making it all possible.

And finally, a huge congratulations to Joe Booth on taking the European Championship in the F1s, a real crowd favourite to take his first major title and a fantastic drive in the final 👏

Congratulations as well to Charlie Guinchard on the F2 European Championship win 🏆

Roll on the next one 💪🏁

So Saturday saw Jake Walker out in the immaculate #289 machine at Kings Lynn for a WC Qualifying round to earn those much needed points for the Semi Final this year!

Jake was the only representative of the Marriott Motorsport team in action at the very well attended meeting with Richard overseas for work and Tim attending the meeting in support of Jake.

The meeting was off to a flier with Jake bringing home a well earned 2nd in the heat and bagging 10 points towards the World Qualifiers!

A few set up changes in preparation for the meeting final saw Jake out on the front row of the Blue grade but on the outside and had no luck, in a fiercely contested final saw Jake pull off with damage and a DNF.

Onto the GN at the end of the night, much of the same for Jake getting caught up in a multi car pile up on the roadside bend needed what looked to be a promising night.

Still learning the refreshed car and nailing down the set up after a couple of years out the seat, progression is looking positive.

Well in Jake for the 2nd in the heat and we will go again!

Updates to come for the next meeting we will be attending.

Head over to the BSCDA page to see Jake in the spotlight with Jonathan Abbott 🎥 🏁

Good to catch up with Radz 229 Racing Danny Wragg in the Brisca F2’s on the night who keep pushing on

🔥 Marriott Motorsport Race Day Recap, Northampton International Shaleway 🔥

Saturday marked a huge milestone for Marriott Motorsport, as for the very first time we had all four cars out on track together at Northampton International Shaleway.

🏁 The Line Up:
• Richard #89
• Tim #428
• Jake #289, freshly rebuilt and looking incredible
• Alan F2 #42, making his Brisca F2 debut at 61 👏

💪 Alan, #42 F2 Kicking things off in Heat 1, Alan didn’t hang about, straight off the front and into the action. After some great battles, he pulled in to catch his breath and adjust to the pace. In the Consi, he ran from the back, gained valuable clean laps, and brought the car home, just missing out on the final, but a solid debut performance on the shale.

🚀 Jake, First outing in the newly refurbished car and straight into Heat 1, Jake brought it home in a brilliant 10th place, securing a spot in the final. When the heavens opened, conditions became incredibly tough, but Jake kept it tidy and consistent, finishing an impressive 6th in the final, his first meeting in 2 years.

⚙️ Tim, A frustrating day with mechanical issues. Tangled early in Heat 2, then hit with gear linkage problems forcing a DNF. In the Consi, more bad luck, after getting caught up and losing brakes, it was another retirement. In the Grand National, a strong start was cut short after being pushed wide in slippery conditions, ending his race early.

🔥 Richard, Battled hard in Heat 2 before damage forced him to pull up. Came back strong in the Consi, showing good pace and bringing it home to the flag, just missing out on a place in the final.

🌧️ Overall A day full of promise, progress, and perseverance despite the typical British downpour. Massive positives to take, especially Jake’s performance, Richard seeing that long awaited chequered flag and Alan’s impressive debut, onwards and upwards.
