We are delighted to share that our lovely Ozzie today received the go-ahead to return to work having recovered extremely well from his joint surgery. He is sound and feeling very well! We have obviously missed this event season but in reality would have struggled anyway to run him with the continued heatwaves and solid ground.

Looks like Matt has decided that horses are over rated anyway, and he might aswell use two legs instead of four!

After a gruelling winter of showjumping and lessons, we had a great first outing with Ozzie in March. A much improved dressage of 28 5 and super confident jumping rounds, everything felt like it was working and we excitedly made a plan for the season!
Not to be. Over Easter Ozzie developed a right hind lameness and swelling in the fetlock. We thought (hoped) he had kicked himself in the field. However, it did not improve and vet Liz came to scan him. Long story short, he was admitted to Bell Equine for CT and MRI scans which revealed bone loss possibly due to infection. He was sent home with strong antibiotics but the swelling did not really change.
Ozzie's owners and I had difficult conversations as to how to proceed, bearing in mind we had already spent most of the insurance money on vets fees. They all agreed to give him the only chance of recovery, which was to operate under general anaesthetic, to debride the area and flush out the joint.
He is now home after this ordeal and now we wait, hope and pray.
So grateful to owners Jane and Nick, Jackie and Theresa, for giving Ozzie a fighting chance, and to Liz Barr and Bell Equine for everything.

The big clean up!
We've been in survival mode this week! A layer of straw and s*** from the stables on the concrete made it safe enough to get the horses out each day during the frozen weather. Thank goodness it seems a little more pleasant today!
Hope that you all (and your horses) are ok after a horrible week. Onwards and upwards!

The kids and I had a great day at Brightling Ironmasters ride, hosted by the amazing RDA Fairlight. It was so friendly and well organised - and the refreshments tent was the best I've ever seen!! 🍻🍰 🥪

Great to be riding around Brightling Park again, one of the nicest courses we have jumped around and always a delight to return to. Super excited about Ozzie - who is now officially named MIH Ozymandias! At 5 years old, he is just starting out and learning his job around 90cm - the The Cotswold Cup series is perfect for these young horses, being encouraging and professional. He is proving to have unlimited scope, movement and trainablity, and absolutely loves the XC phase!
Stella is also feeling on top form, flying around the 100 with Iggi Ross Smith on board!

We ventured a mile up the road to the fab Aster Horses for a bit of dressage! Our new boy Ozzie is very exciting - so pleased with how he has grown and matured. Looking forward to hitting the eventing circuit later this year. Olivia came along and beat her dad to first place with super cob Secret, and Imogen and Maggie had a successful first outing this year if a little spooky! Thanks to Aster Horses for a great show!

Tough week. Sad goodbyes to three lovely boys. Lia's Guinness, and "the Blues" - ex racing brothers owned and bred by Jackie. Not many TBs have such a great life after the racecourse, but thanks to Jackie, Big Blue had many placings at grassroots BE and went county level showing in ROR classes. Little Blue achieved BE Novice and took our then 13 year old daughter to her first dressage shows. Such polite, amazing, tough little horses. Proper Thoroughbreds! They all had a short retirement in the field, but the time had come with ongoing health issues and such horrible winters to endure. Run free boys ❤️

What a result for Team GB! Outstanding horsemanship throughout. Congratulations to Ros, Tom and Laura. Even with the flag 'penalties,' they absolutely nailed it. The horses looked superb, fit and happy, loving every minute. 👌🐎🥇

Finally have managed a couple of events this season! Stella was on great form yesterday for a double clear and 2nd place in her Novice section at BCA, well pleased as she is really short of outings this year. And we are so excited to introduce the beautiful Ozzy, a four year old Irish gelding owned by a syndicate of three of our wonderful clients. He won't be doing too much this year but we can't wait to get him out and about in 2025!
