A child who feels safe, encouraged, and trusted will always develop faster than one who plays with fear of making mistakes. Inspiration opens the mind. Fear closes it.

When children enjoy training, they become curious.
When they become curious, they start experimenting.
And when they experiment, real learning begins.

A frightened child thinks about avoiding mistakes.
An inspired child thinks about finding solutions.

That is the difference between playing with pressure and playing with confidence.

The role of a coach is not only to teach football skills, but to create an environment where children feel brave enough to try, fail, learn, and grow.

Because development starts with confidence — not fear.

A really enjoyable evening of football last night as the Barons picked up another positive result against Ashby United 👏⚽

In friendlies, we like to allow the players to make their own decisions on the pitch rather than giving them too much direction, and it was great to see them express themselves and play with confidence throughout the game.

Ashby United are a very good side who spent part of last season in Division Two, so this was another excellent test for us. With a couple of new players settling in and others stepping into different positions, we were really pleased with both the performances and attitude shown by everyone.

It was also fantastic to welcome Arthur and Eminjan back following their injuries 🙌

Plenty of positives to take forward 👏🔵🔴

Player Spotlight: JJ ⚽️

JJ is a Fearless, committed, and always ready to compete, he’s worked hard whenever he’s stepped onto the pitch, whether that’s been battling away in defence or doing a job up front as a striker.

He enjoys the physical side of the game and never shies away from a challenge. JJ works hard for every ball, puts pressure on opponents, and is always willing to get stuck in for the team. His effort and determination have made him an important part of the squad throughout the season.

What’s stood out most has been his attitude. JJ has been happy to play wherever he’s needed and has continued to improve as the season has gone on. While he may not always be the flashy player, he brings energy, commitment, and a real willingness to battle for the team every week, qualities that teammates and coaches really value. Keep growing JJ 💪⚽️💙❤️

Nothing planned for the barons this weekend. We are really looking forward to our tournament on 6th June, the pitches look fantastic.
