Great session

Thank you to all that made this month’s official JKRUK brown and blackbelt class with a deep study on the Shindo Jinen Ryu version of Ao-Rohai Sho kata.
Great to see some of juniors attending 🙏

Tonight saw us continuing the study of the JKR kata Seiryu (Willow) we are moving on from the applications against an attack to working on when those applications don’t quite work and plan B has to be used. React and adapt.
Following that a session of free style kumibo.

Training requires knowing how hard and accurately you can strike. If you can’t hit something at 100% then you’ll never know if it really works when needed. For that reason we use heavy pads and even safety glasses when training eye strikes to allow the person striking the ability to do it for real whilst giving the Uke complete protection from injury.

A small class this week saw the return of guest instructor Sensei Nigel Goodier, 9th Dan Aikijutsu. Lots of great drills and working on transitioning from Shodan to Nidan and onto Sandan fluently. Sensei also guided us on applying his Kensetsu to some applications we had been working on in the class over the last few weeks.
