Solway Petanque Club

Solway Petanque Club We are a small friendly group with a huge passion for playing the sport of Petanque. We will play on the terrain opposite the tennis courts in Annan.

We would like to encourage play in the community so come along and give it a try. We would like to encourage this sport in the community. It is a social game and an excellent way to meet people and stay connected so come along and give it a try.

Tonight's 5 target pointing competition was played in some showers, however it didn't dampen our spirits. In 4th place was Alan Legg with 140 points, 3rd place David Kirkpatrick with 149, runner up with 156 was David Mackie and the champion for 2026 was Colin Dobie with a score of 157.
Well done Colin and to everyone who took part.

We had a fantastic weekend at Penicuik Petanque Club this weekend.
We played in Saturday's triples as DMD (David Mackie, Mary Mackie and David Kirkpatrick) and were knocked out in the semi final of the plate league and on Sunday as النادي الرياضي بخزامة الصفحة الرسمية Club sportif de khezama C S K ( our Tunisian club)

Our busy weekend continued today with a friendly match with our closest pètanque neighbours Wetheral, near Carlisle. The weather was fantastic and both clubs enjoyed the competition and a buffet provided by Solway members. Solway PC won in the end. It is hoped their will be a return match as soon as schedules will allow.

Today we hosted our first open competition, a mixed doubles. We welcomed competitors from Stirling Petanque Club, East Lothian Petanque Club, Troon Petanque Club, Ayr Petanque Club, Moffat Petanque Club, and Inverleith Petanque Club, some of whom found accommodation in the town, shopped ate out and visited local attractions such as Annandale distillery, Gretna Green's famous blacksmith's shop, Caledonia Park designer outlet, Dumfries's oldest house and The Globe.
Bacon rolls from The pantry started the day at 8.30am along with registration and many closely contested matches followed in what was a great day. The prizes were as follows...
1st winning - £80 each - Mr & Mrs P

3rd - £35 each - F***y & Dickie
4th - £20 each - Bonny & Clyde
