Good afternoon Subbuteo crew.
I just wanted to update everyone on the current club situation.
It’s been a tough couple of months here at the club, attendance has been disappointing due to many factors so for that reason we have decided to give June a miss and recalibrate for July.
I have been told that the club has lost focus and no one wants to play old rules and 5-aside, well I am sorry if some players felt that we had lost focus but I tried to see if we could bring a little bit of fun back to the club.
Modern Subbuteo has indeed become the main reason why some players play Subbuteo but I wanted to encourage older players back into the game, it didn’t work despite our best efforts and thank you to Dave for trying to bring people onboard.
Unfortunately the club can only be successful with more that 8 players per monthly session. We have relied on other clubs to support our small club and the loss of Jon Willing who stepped away has made it tougher for the club.
I have worked hard to make the tables, spend thousands of pounds on pitches etc so for me it’s extra disappointing when we don’t have many players in attendance.
I liked the idea of the 5-aside and love playing the old rules but I suppose the modern game is where most feel comfortable and the club plans to habe the modern Rules monthly Waspa in July.
If successful then maybe see what August brings.
I still want to include the 5-aside at some point but when the time is right.
