Absolutely loved tying up this year's stillwater box for the Wild Trout Trust auction.

Zebra midge

Tied on a size 16 offset hook, black thread body, tinsel rib, black dubbed collar, white brass bead.

Back home after a fantastic weekend spent at the BFFI up in Stafford- catching up with old friends, making new ones and tying some flies on the Deer Creek stand - joio! Already looking forward to next year!

Back to the vice after a lovely family break away - just what we all needed!

Claret and ginger foam hopper - i was quite pleased with it until I saw the photo - plenty of room for improvement I feel! Not that the fish will mind i suppose... 🤫

Sparkle spent spinner ✨️

Size 14 Fasna dryfly hook
Coq de Leon tail fibres
Vicuna (🥺) UV hares ear dubbed body
Poly yarn wing with a bit of added sparkle (more DC laser dub)

That's it!

A few drops of floatant on those wings and it'll stay on the surface for dayyyyys

The egg fly - but not as you know it 😉

Tried a few different techniques today to try and make egg patterns look and fish a bit more realistically.

This is tied on a wide gape hook (fulling mill), barbless, size 14. A heavy red tungsten bead tied mid hook, and the body of the fly is white laser dub long fibre dubbing from Deer Creek. Tied and brushed around the bead to suggest movement and translucency.
