Midlands Division One – Saturday 1st August 2026
With our final regular game of the season came the performance so many previous games promised. It was fast, physical, disciplined, and exactly the kind of statement we wanted to make in our first year in the Midlands Division 1/Merit League.
From the kick off, we showed intent that was to carry throughout the game. Our forwards wanted to dominate and gain the territorial advantage in the early exchanges, to allow our halves of Tobin & Dom to take control of the game tempo.
Our man of the match, Dom, delivered the perfect performance in the halves. He dictated play, organised the shape, and made the right decisions at the right moments to put our backs into space and finish the game off in style.
But this wasn’t a one man show. There were strong performances all over the pitch. The forward pack worked tirelessly gaining territory , the outside backs were powerful and clinical, and the team’s collective effort in defence was outstanding. And then came the games magic moment— a blind side run at dummy half from Ollie. He played with confidence, creativity, and no fear, adding spark to our attack and showing exactly why the club is excited about what he’ll bring next season.
This was our first season in Division 1, and we set out to make sure every team we faced knew they were in a game. We wanted to learn, improve, and grow from week to week — and we’ve done exactly that - we have shown the ability to score points throughout the season but this was the first real time that it was matched by the defence being able to control the opposition. Our recruitment has been excellent in year one, and we’ve built a squad capable of challenging further up the table next year and with a few more numbers to help spread the game load, this group is ready to push on and achieve our second year club targets!!
Every single player should be proud of what they’ve contributed. This performance wasn’t just a win — it was a marker and a statement of who we are, how far we’ve come and what’s coming next.
