Swanwick Pentrich Road FC The club was founded in 1964 by local residents looking to form a football team for the area.

Having folded in 2020 the team re-emerged as a veterans team in 2022 and are now expanding to include an Under 18's youth team for the 24/25 season...

After an incredible journey, we’re sad to share that Swanwick Pentrich Road FC will be folding as a club this summer.

What the last 5–6 years have given us, though, is something really special. Back in 2019, Clay Cross cougars Under 13's stepped up to take on the running of the clubhouse and pitch. What followed was a huge amount of hard work, commitment, and pride in re-energising something the whole community could be proud of.

The improvements made over that time turned it into a fantastic facility—not just for football, but for bringing people together.

More importantly, it became a place where young players could develop, not just as footballers, but as mates—building friendships and memories that will last far beyond the football pitch.

Then in 2021, Clay Cross cougars opened the door—this time for the “old boys from Swanwick Pentrich Road” A group who had been part of the fabric of the club through the 90s, 2000s and beyond, coming back together to form the veterans. For many of us, it was a chance to carry on our footballing story into our 40's with the same lads we’d grown up with.

And what a few years it’s been. From a 3rd place finish in that first season, to winning the Conference League the year after, then going one better with an invincible Championship-winning season. Promotion to the Premier League followed, along with a top 4 finish—something we’ll all be incredibly proud of.

In the summer of 2025 we re-united as one under the famous Swanwick Pentrich Road club badge into what would be our final season.

This again brought another level of success back to this great club.

But more than the results, it’s been about the laughs, the friendships, the families and the chance to pull on the black and white shirt alongside your mates.

A special mention to Jason le Bosquet who has literally spent thousands of hours keeping this dream alive for so many of us. Coaching the cougars, cutting the grass, marking the pitch and dedicating a big chunk of his life to this project........

Clubs come and go, but what Swanwick Pentrich Road has given to so many of us—young and old—won’t be forgotten. The memories, the graft, the successes, and the people are what made it what it was.

A huge thank you to everyone else who’s been part of the journey.

It’s game day for the vets this afternoon as they take on Sherwood colliery vets at Highfield Road with a 2pm kick off…

The two teams have a real friendly history having started vets football at the same time so if you are at a loose end this afternoon get down and watch 2 good teams battle it out on the football pitch…

We will be going back to our new hosts after the game for a few 🍻 and 🍔 so a massive thank you to the team at the red lion Riddings for supporting the lads 🙏

Still plenty of games to go as we enter the closing stages of the season for both the under 18’s and the vets..

Double bubble up on Highfield road this weekend and the pitch is looking top draw…

Under 18’s are playing Chesterfield Town U17/18 on Saturday with a 9-30 Kickoff.

Then it’s onto the vets on Sunday who are hoping to have a strong finish to their premier league campaign they host Stapleford Town FC vets and that kicks off at 2 pm

Tuesday 28th April cup final @ Alfreton Town FC 8 o clock Kickoff against Somersall Rangers.

It’s a long awaited return to Highfield Road for both teams this weekend and we can’t wait to get back out onto the grass after a long, wet winter…

Under 18’s take on barlborough juniors reds with an early 9am kick off on Saturday (21st March)

Unfortunately the snack bar won’t be open tomorrow due to staffing issues but please do pop down and watch the youngsters…

Sunday (22nd) it’s over to the old boys as the vets take on high flying Bilborough vets with a 2pm kick off..

We are then back down to our main sponsor The Gate Inn New - Swanwick for some post match snap and a few 🍻

The vets premier league throws up some really good opposition players to pitch ourselves against and today’s opponents have a ex premier league captain who has played over 400 games at the highest level for teams like Bolton, Newcastle, West Ham but can you guess the player?

Happy New year to all you Swans fans..
apologies for the lack of posts recently but the pitch has been unplayable since early November hence no activity on our page..

Vets have only managed to play 1 home game so far this season which means plenty to get in through 2026.

Under 18’s are scheduled to be at home tomorrow (Saturday) but with freezing conditions predicted tonight we will be holding a 8am pitch inspection so look out for further details in the morning.

If the game does go ahead we will play somersall rangers with a 10am kick off…

Match Report by a very ‘modest’ captain Theo Mottershead !

Swanwick Pentrich Road vs South Normanton Athletic

The Swans return back home after no game last week and two away games on the bounce as they play a struggling South Normanton who were beaten 4-0 by the Swans last time out. The away side brought a big away following for today’s outing as they hope to see their team get their first win of the season. In the last match The Swans dominated the ball, however it took them to the 55th minute to get the opener and from their they took the game away and the Swans will be looking to do the same today, however South Normanton’s manager has adapted a tactic called ‘park the bus’ to stop the Swans invading their goal.

As the whistle went from referee Liam Parry the game was under way and within ten minutes the Swans took the lead as Will Durant discovered he had a left foot and whipped the ball into the far corner with a lovely finish to open the scoring. A few minutes later, Beck Gill won the ball back and then gave it to Harrison walker who slipped Will Durant in and he pulled it bag for Spig to tap into an empty net a lovely team goal from the Swans. The dominance continued and after a lovely corner from Theo the ball fell to blade who shot about 14 times until Will Durant hammered home for his brace and a third for the Swans. As the half was coming to a close Micheal Pepper rolled a lovely ball through to Barney who flashed the ball across the box and Will Durant made it a hat-rick with a tap in at the back post however he reluctant to celebrate, great sportsmanship from the young man. The whistle blew for half time and it was a stellar first half performance from the Swans who will want to keep it going in the second half.

The second half kicked off and the Swans were just building through the motions again, however harrison walker decided to take it upon himself to pass the ball to nobody and try and do it all by himself, he was later forced to pass the ball after some stern words from the captain. Minutes Later Spig got his brace i can’t really remember how but it was probably a tap in anyway. Spig was working really hard to get his hat-rick and he eventually did a great run in behind and finish made it 6-0 to the swans, then he decided to do the same thing again which made goalkeeper Charlie Murphy eat his words after giving him some stick in the groupchat yesterday for Spig’s lack of output. After this the crowd were on their feet as club captain Theo Mottershead was subbed off after another wonderful performance everyone thought his day would end there. In the last 20 minutes both teams knew the game was over put the Swans remained persistence and Alfie Sissons made it 8-0 with a wonderful finish at the near post. Will Durant was back on the pitch and made a lovely run and cross into the box where Spig was just goal hanging as per to get his fifth of the match as the Swans were running riot. As we came into the last ten minutes Theo Mottershead returned to the pitch and he only went and chipped the keeper from 25 yards out with an audacious effort that left the crowd stunned what can’t he do. The game then ended with a show of respect at the end, oh also Spig went in goal and Charlie went upfront but nothing happened during that time.

The end result is impressive but it’s taken x 3 volunteers giving up 9 hours of their own time to get the pitch looking like this.. the amount of unpaid graft that goes into grass roots football can never be underestimated and this is before a ball is kicked on a Saturday.. ⚽️⚽️
it’s game on as Swans U18’s take on local rivals South Normanton athletic U18’s down on Highfield Road tomorrow (Saturday 25th October) it’s a 10:00am kick off and clubhouse will be open for hot teas and coffees…

Please do come down and cheer on the young swans as they look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season… 🦢

Pitch looking immaculate on this fresh saturday morning. Terrible warm up from the lads but you know what they say about bad warmups. With goalkeeper Charlie Murphy travelling to watch Derby away at Wrexham meaning someone had to step in. Alfie Sissons is that man, used to play in net for Ripley and after a strong performance at training on tuesday in goal everyone thinks he’s better than Charlie.

The game started and both teams fighting for that first goal. Not long after kick off Pilsley go 1-0 up but the Swans keep their heads high until 10 minutes later Pilsley make it 2-0. Through the first half the Swans were attempting to get that goal to keep them in it and with Pilsleys goalkeeper dislocating his knee after taking a goal kick it was looking promising. Pilsley get a free kick on the edge of the box sees a great strike from the free kick taker but a camera save from Sissons to keep the game rolling. A mini fight breaking out between Max and Pilsley player Reggie, what a name, they both receive yellow cards.
Late on in the first half Kian plays a ball through in which Alex receives it and scores a wonderful goal going over the keepers head.

With a strong team talk from manager jase the Swans knew they were back in it. The Swans controlled possession of the ball throughout the second half. The ball coming out to Max on the edge of the box and he hits it first time and it flys into the back of the net making it 2-2. Both teams fighting to get that winning goal. Harrison receive the ball and with a lovely finish in the bottom right corner surely the Swans have won it. In the last moments of the game the Swans go down to 10 men with Max being sent off. With the final whistle blown the game ends 3-2 to the Swans.
