First weekend of the 26/27 complete ✅
It was great to see our teams get back to it this weekend! Well done to all our players who gave it their all! 👏🏼

🐲 U9 Amigos
Wow today blew the cobwebs off the Amigos. After a successful season last year we got pushed up into division 2 out of 4 and still an age group up. Today we faced probably the best team we have ever played. AFCB U10s girls. The boys were a shadow of their usual selves. The game finished with a win to the girls, I can’t see many teams beating those girls this year. They were fantastic. I’m confident the boys will bounce back next week and we will push on from there.

🏆 POTM & Oppositions POTM went to Max, he was bombarded today and in all fairness he was absolutely incredible. He must of made 15 saves. To get recognition and so many positive comments from AFCB coaches in itself is brilliant. He never let his head drop and just kept going.
🐲 U10 Raptors
Alderholt Raptors – BRS Whites
An exciting start to the season for the Raptors today as they came up against a well organised BRS team. The first quarter saw BRS keep the Raptors under pressure for long spells, but the boys stuck to the tactics brilliantly and showed excellent discipline in their positions.
Q2 saw the boys grow into the game using the counter attack effectively. Jude hit the crossbar before later getting a well deserved goal after some great team play.
The boys showed excellent battling spirit throughout, but in the 4th quarter BRS found an equaliser. With just two minutes left to play BRS then took the lead with a neat finish. The Raptors showed brilliant spirit right to the end, and Luke snatched a last minute equaliser to round off a fantastic game that, in the end, could have gone either way.
🏆 It was simply too difficult to pick one Player of the Match today, as every single player put in a great shift. So, instead, they all get to share the award!

🐲 U11 Spartans
Alderholt Spartans welcomed a strong Hotspire team for a home match to kick off the new season. The weather was perfect and the pitch fantastic.
Q1 - The Spartans got off to a strong start attacking well and any pressure at the back was soaked up confidently by Jos and Dan. Towards the end of the quarter Morgan's run on the left and shot was saved by the keeper, Frankie pounced on the loose ball and buried it home. Alfie looked fast on the right wing, making some great runs causing Hotspire a lot of problems.
With a couple of changes for Q2 the game was fairly even, the boys looking comfortable on the ball and continuing to pressure Hotspire. A high ball in the box and Jack came agonisingly close with a spectacular overhead bicycle kick, on target but the keeper managed to just about save it. At the other end, Elliot made some crucial saves and tackles, he looked composed in all he did. Jos and Dan played extremely well in defense working together and clearing up any danger.
Q3 changes seemed to upset the balance a bit and Hotspire got a goal back, they then plied on the pressure with new desire and notched a further two goals. The boys looked a little deflated but stuck it out.
Q4 was a different story, the boys dug deep and started to pile the pressure back on again. Some great passing moves and the shots began to come and we looked a danger to Hotspire. After running his socks off Morgan managed to pick out a screamer to pull a goal back for us. The boys were visibly lifted by this and began chasing everything and winning the ball back in quick succession. Archie pushing forward with runs and some neat passing happening as the boys began linking up well. Hotspire then caught us out in a goal scramble and somehow against play they notched another goal. Jack was brought down for a foul in the opposition half and from long range took the freekick, he smashed the ball sweetly only for it to go inches wide of the top corner. Dan and Albie kept the pressure on with some good strong play out on the flanks, using their strength to good effect. We were hungry for another goal, it was only a matter of time. Morgan popped up again with another to bring us firmly back into the game. Unfortunately time wasn't on our side now, another 5 mins and we may have got the draw which would have seemed a fairer result. The boys played some great football today and keep improving week on week. I’m sure everyone would agree that it was a hugely entertaining game of football. Well done lads, we’re all really proud of your progression and effort today. 👏👏👏

POTM 🏆 - It was fairly close today but it went to Morgan for his relentless battling and desire to keep us in the game. A couple of top notch goals to add as well. Well done! 👏

🐲 U12 Vipers
Good to get back to it today! ⚽️
An unfortunate 4-1 loss, but a very well-matched game. Despite the scoreline, I thought the boys played really well, especially considering we haven’t trained properly for six weeks and haven’t played a match since July!
Alderbury nicked a couple of lucky goals that, on any other day, would’ve rolled straight past. Fergus was superb on his debut, telling me at the end that he’d never played in defence, but you certainly wouldn’t have known! 👏🏼
Toby pulled off some absolute screamers with both his head and his hands today. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him jump so high! 😂
Well done to Max for taking our first goal of the season from a free kick with an absolute banger from just past the halfway line! 🔥
And well done to all the other boys who worked their socks off. It was great to see them using their bodies and strength in tackles, while keeping the passing going, exactly what I asked of them.
There are some things to work on in training, particularly those little gaps in focus and closing down that Alderbury took full advantage of. But that’s what training is for!
It was always going to be a challenge stepping up to Division 2, but I have complete confidence in this group of boys. 💪🏼

🐲 U13 Hawks Girls
Stoneham 1-10 Hawks
The Hawks have landed in the Hampshire League.
We played a new formation today to play to the strengths of the players available due to our mini injury crisis which exacerbated in the warm up when Mila injured her hand. Not sure what Matt Oakley told her but it convinced Mila to play through the pain barrier and our line up remained unchanged.
Right from the whistle, the girls created chance after chance after chance. It felt like we were never going to score. Megan thankfully put everyone at ease on 18 mins.
4-0 at half time due to goals from Mia, Megan, Brooke and Millicent which were all very well taken but there was excellent wing and midfield play from Laila, Fleur and Ava. While the attackers will get the plaudits the defence was also excellent. Caity, Charlotte and Emilia holding the fort and building the attacks. Megan played a specialist position today playing as an anchor and eating ground like a John Deer tractor. 🚜
Mila has to get a big shout out. While not much was going her way, we could hear her talking to the defence and organising the back.
Stoneham was able to get a goal back but that didn’t stop us from a rampant 2nd half.
Ava got a double, Mia added another, so did Brooke. Megan decided to bang another couple which gave her, her maiden hatrick for the Hawks with her snazzy new boots which put mine and Neil’s to shame.
We were in full control that we moved players around and tried to share the attacking roles. All the girls did excellent. Emilia and Laila near the end trying to also get in on the act.
Overall it was a strong performance in difficult circumstances and we are super proud.

Ps massive shout out to the girls who played wing backs today. It’s hard, requires fitness and discipline. So proud of Laila, Fleur and Millicent in particular who did it exceptionally.

🐲 Flames
It was a come back story for the Flames today.
The Flames were competitive in the first few minutes. However a couple of defensive and a keeping slip up meant Andover scored twice in quick succession in Q1.
In Q2 the Flames bounced back getting back in the attack quick and making those challenges. We saw Andover make a good save to deny Harper a goal and then a near miss from range from Tahlia. Then Harper got one in making it 2-1 to Andover at half time.
In Q3 Harper had a few more attempts on goal and the whole team effort making tackles and defending corners was excellent.
In Q4 it felt like we dominated. One of my highlights was Indigo winning the ball at the back, playing the ball out to Leila, then Leila making a run then playing the long ball out to Harper but she couldn’t quite get on the end of the one.
Harper levelled the score mid way though the final qtr. There was then further attacks and a nice shot from Leila but it ended with a draw.

🏆 Player of the Match was Leila for great team play, passing well and working hard both to help the defence and to push forward.
🐲 U9 Arrows
Arrows took on Grange today at home. It is our first game of the season playing 7 a side, we are playing up a year in the under 10’s, in division 2, where the quality of football is reasonably good.
The boys started well and defended well against a team which were physically bigger and stronger, but we still held them for the quarter. We learned a lot about building up play from the back and grew into the game.
The second quarter the opposition took a couple of their chances but we remained competitive and started creating some good chances.
The third and fourth quarters we came out fighting, but although we had the around 14 chances at goal, their keeper had an excellent game and unluckily none of them went in the back of the net.
The game finished with a win to the Grange but the score line doesn’t tell the story. We matched strength and skill on the ball but unfortunately lacked the final touch.
All the boys played their hearts out and we as coaches couldn’t be prouder with the overall performance. They never let their heads go do and kept battling, a testament to them as a team.
We learned so much today and even though we were defeated we were competitive throughout just lacked that little bit of composure in the final third. Up the Arrows!!!
🏆 POTM: Hugo worked tirelessly in whichever position he played. He covered every blade of grass and contributed so much with his performance.
Shinpad of tenacity: Jensen Played his heart out and stuck to his task up front. Came so close to scoring his first goal 🙂
