Sooyang Do has been part of the Alford community since August 2005, and I’m proud to continue the legacy that has been built here over the years. As someone who lives in the village, it means even more to me to see Sooyang Do continue to grow and thrive in Alford. 🖤💛

I’m one of only three 3rd Dan Black Belts in Sooyang Do, alongside black belts in other martial arts disciplines, with over 30 years of martial arts experience.

I’m also fully insured and qualified through NAKMAS, giving you confidence that you’re training in a safe, professional and properly regulated environment.

📅 Classes start Wednesday 16th September Alford Campus.

What a grading weekend so far.

A massive well done to all of our students who have taken part in this weekend’s grading so far!

From the brown seniors on Friday night, our black belt tags this morning to our adult coloured belts this afternoon.

I couldn’t be prouder of the effort, focus and determination shown by everyone. It was fantastic to see how hard you have all been working in class coming through on the grading floor.

There were some fantastic performances, with students showing not only their technical ability, but also the discipline, respect and attitude that Sooyang Do is all about.

Well done again.

On to the junior floor tomorrow. 🥋👊🥋

Sooyang Do – Alford Update

I’m pleased to announce that I will be taking over the Sooyang Do school in Alford.

I’m really looking forward to bringing Sooyang Do to Alford and continuing to build on the great work that has already been done there.

Training sessions will be located in Alford Campus. More information on the poster below.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to wish Mr Conor Roberts all the very best as he moves on from Sooyang Do.

Thank you for all your hard work, dedication and commitment over the years. I wish you every success and happiness for the future. You will certainly be missed. It's been a pleasure working alongside you, and I’m sure our paths will continue to cross.

I’ll keep everyone updated with further information about the Alford classes as soon as it’s available.

GRADING TIMES – SEPTEMBER 2026

Grading times for the September 2026 grading are listed below. Please look for the time of the student’s current belt level. Please arrive AT LEAST 15 minutes before your start time.

Grading location - Westdyke Leisure Centre
4 Westdyke Avenue, Elrick, Westhill, Aberdeenshire, AB32 6QX

Green Belt & Above (Juniors)
Students will need full sparring gear:

* Head guard
* Gum shield
* Boxing gloves
* Foot guards
* Shin guards

White & Yellow Belt (Adult)
Students will need:

* Head guard
* Gum shield
* Boxing gloves

Gold Belt & Above (Adults)
Students will need full sparring gear (same as the Juniors).

All adult students please take focus mitts if you have.

Please ensure that all jewellery is removed and long hair is tied back.
