🔥 Done and Dusted 🔥

3.5 Months of hard work since Cardiff to get to this stage…

Improvements from Cardiff:
- 5RM Back Squat: 160kg > 180kg
- 10RM Overhead Press: 60kg > 65kg
- 12 Minute Run: 1.938km > 1.975km

Decreased stats:
- 12 minute Cycle: 6.23KM < 6.063km
- MET-CON X: 23:52 minutes < 25:11 minutes

Can’t win them all but an amazing environment today, I got to do it with my brother and couldn’t have asked for more! 🙌

✅ Support from staff right up until the very end

Looking forward to training for next years events 💪

⭐️Hybrid Taster Session AB Fit Gym⭐️

Today’s Aims:

✅ Learn Deadlift technique and put it into practice
✅ Tackle a full body conditioning circuit
✅ 60 second max distance sled push (25kg loaded)

Members smashed the session today with some impressive stats on distance!

D - 44 metres 💪
C&R - 48 metres 💪

Loved that everyone cheered eachother on, that’s what it’s all about 🙌

WHAT IS TEMPO?🤷‍♂️

To Add or not to add that is the question 🤔

‘Tempo’ is the rate of speed that an exercise - with an emphasis on controlling certain parts of the movement!

Tempo can be shown through a four digit number such as:

‘3-1-1-0’

MOVEMENT PHASES:

The first digit is represented by the ‘Eccentric Phase’ = The lowering of the movement, so you would lower the weight to the bottom position at a 3 second pace.

The second digit is represented by the PAUSE at the bottom of the movement and how long you hold it for, the example shows you would hold it for 1 second.

The third digit represents the speed at which you bring the movement from bottom position to starting position (Concentric Phase), in this case a 1 second pace.

The fourth digit represents how long you HOLD the starting position for before returning back to the eccentric phase, in the example it shows there’s now pause - meaning you would go straight back into the next repetition.

WHY BOTHER DOING IT?

- It can promote muscle GROWTH especially focusing on the ‘eccentric’ part of the movement because of ‘Time Under Tension’ (TUT)

- It can promote eccentric STRENGTH as it can focus on the lengthening phase of the movement which leads to an overall improvement in strength.

- A focus on control allows for improved TECHNIQUE, as the body will need to control the weight through the entire movement meaning you can’t rely on momentum.

- It allows you to IDENTIFY WEAKNESSES by slowing the repetition down you create more MINDFULNESS for yourself and creates a better understanding of your bodies strength imbalances.

- Being able to identify weaknesses, imbalances and maintaining control through each repetition improves STABILITY and can increase INJURY PREVENTION

Origin Story 🫆

Hi 👋

Jack here at your service 🫡

Exercise & Nutrition hasn’t always been in my DNA 🧬 I grew up a fairly inactive kid until I discovered rugby from friends 🏉 From there, I put my heart and soul into being the best player I could be - stronger, faster, fitter. Then it all came crashing down…

❌ Injuries
❌ Burnout
❌ Exhaustion

I fell out of love with rugby and exercise 💔 I stopped doing the things I loved because I was tired of being injured and I was tired of being tired 😪 After a while:

Exercise went down📉
Weight went up ⬆️

I did the best I could to get back into the swing of it, I have bounced back and forth with:

➡️ Meal Replacement Shakes
➡️ Juice Diets/ Cleanses
➡️ Fasting
➡️ Calorie Counting

In short term, they worked and I saw results - but I always found myself struggling to maintain these types of diets and it would all come crumbling down 😢

I decided to take a chance on myself, pursue a career as a Personal Trainer because I wanted to know what actually does work and what doesn’t 🏋️‍♂️ 🏃‍♂️

This first step created a huge domino effect because to this point - I have been very grateful to have had opportunities that very few have:

➡️ Completed a ‘Rugby Development Apprenticeship’ with the Welsh Rugby Union 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

➡️ Go on to work as a ‘Community Outreach Officer’ with the Dragons RFC 🐉

But…it doesn’t stop there.

I love what I do and that is:

✅ Help others achieve what they want to do.

✅ Coach rugby, exercise/sport specific training and give advice where possible or help you find the best advice!

For me to continue to chase what I love to do, I’ve invested in myself and from September as well as being a PT - I will also be a student 🧑‍🎓 going back to Uni to complete a degree in ‘Sports Conditioning , Rehabilitation and Massage’ 🏃‍♂️🏋️‍♂️

💡 Client Spotlight 💡

Luke has been a client for 8 weeks💪

Every session, the intent is there - he shows up, puts in the graft and it’s been a pleasure finding ways to help progress with some big goals such as 1 Rep Max Deadlift (currently standing at 160kg, which was the goal for Christmas) but also looking at the best ways for him to manage mobility issues at the same time!

The results are there because he’s putting the shift in, inside and outside the gym!
