Ranunculus, aka water crowfoot, aka w**d (not that kind of w**d!) in the Wye this morning. It's years since we've seen a growth of it like this.

I'm cautiously excited to see its return. The problems with our rivers are by no means over - nutrient levels remain high in many parts of the Wye, and there are plenty of other threats to river health such as insecticidal treatments, not to mention ongoing issues with sewage release - but we should celebrate the small wins.

And I didn't once complain when my blades got tangled in the w**d.
