This afternoon Saturday 5th September saw the last of our singles finals between James Lamond and who else but our Peter Gardiner. This occasion playing for the Blackwatch Trophy. Another handicap competition with the very experienced Peter starting on minus 5 and James starting on plus 5. 10 points for Peter to make up even to draw level but Peter has managed this often and gone on to win.
On this occasion James kept his cool throughout maintaining a gap at 12-7, 15-9, 18-14 before crossing the winning line with a 21-14 win.

It must be said that both players played some exceptional bowls throughout the game and the final was a great game of bowls to watch.

Peter never makes it easy to beat him so well done to both of our finalists and a great win for James.

Aberfeldy Bowling Club Senior Invitation Triples today 3rd September.
Always such an enjoyable and social day around the game of bowls but also ALWAYS competitive in this short 5 ends game.
Four sections of six teams vying to top their Section to reach the semi finals and hopefully progress to the final.

So how did the day pan out?

Congratulations to our 4 Section winners.
1. Jim Adams/ Adam Gallie/ Ray Taylor
2. Rickie Grant/ Sami Sabbagh/ Dougie Lambert
3. Rhoda Robison/Derek Wittman/Nigel Robison
4. Jimmy Hermiston/Cathy Kellas/Sandy Lawrence

Congratulations to Teams 2 and 4 for winning their respective semifinals.
An excellent final saw the final go the way deservedly to Jimmy, Cathy and Sandy. Very well done!

Aberfeldy Bowling Club would like to thank all those members who put in the effort to make this day such a success either on the green, with the fantastic catering throughout the day and to those covering the Bar.

Tonight saw the Final of the Presidents Cup between serial winner Peter Gardiner and Derek Wittmann. This is a handicap competion which saw Peter playing off scratch and Derek off +8.
Derek got off to a flying start and soon found himself 14-0 ahead. Undaunted Peter reduced the deficit to 14-9, then 16-13 and to 18-16. Both playing some excellent bowls then saw Peter take a lead at 18-20 and a single shot from the win. Derek however had different ideas and soon it was 20-20 and an intriging final end would decide the winner. Down to the very last bowl and victory went to Derek 21-20.
Well done to Derek winning his first singles competition and I'm sure it wont be his last.

Sunday afternoon saw the annual Taylors Top Team event with four teams of 4 playing as a four, as a triple and single and as pairs.
An enjoyable and fun competition saw Mr. TAYLOR and his team retain his trophy. Well done then to Ray, John, Roseanne and Tony.

CLUB CHAMPION FINALS NIGHT last night at Aberfeldy B.C.
A good turnout to watch the Gents and Ladies Club singles Championships.
Congratulations firstly to all four players for reaching their respective finals.
The ladies final was a close game all the way through and could have gone either way. Well done and congratulations to our 2026 Ladies Champion ALISON STEELE
Our Gents final wasnt as close as the Ladies with George taking an early lead and just not letting up throughout the game to take a well deserved victory. Well done and congratulations to our 2026 Gents Champion GEORGE DARK.

Tonight as the season comes to a conclusion (almost) this friday evening saw the final of two of our singles Club single Finals. (More next week ) The Seniors Final was the eagerly anticipated game between Douglas Craik and our ever present finalist Peter Gardiner. An early lead by Douglas was eventually overtaken by Peter who went on to have a deserved win.

Our second final was for the 'Pitilie Shield.' This competirion is limited to those that have yet to win a club singles competition and as such its always played out amongst our newest and most determined newcomers. Well done to the finalists tonight James Lamond and Ron Christie
Congratulation to our winner, James Lamond who played some exceptional bowls tonight
and your turn will come Ron for making you way to this years final.

Here is the Aberfeldy Bowling Club Senior Invitation Triples draw to be played on Thursday 3rd September. Please note Sections A and B commence on the Green at 9.30am with Sections C and D following at 10.15am. Best of luck to all the teams and we hope you all enjoy a great day of bowls.
