West End FC 9-0 Northstar
Another excellent performance from the team this morning as the boys continued their impressive early season momentum.
We expected a tough challenge from Northstar, who have been steadily improving, but the boys started brightly and took the lead in the opening minutes. Finlay found Spencer, who finished confidently to make it 1-0.
We continued to push forward and were awarded a penalty when Jaxon was brought down. Spencer stepped up and calmly slotted the ball low into the corner for his second.
Spencer then completed his hat trick with another excellent strike, before Jaxon added a brace just before half-time. His first came from a well timed through ball, while his second was a great finish from a cutback by Jamie, sending us into the break 5-0 up.
Into the second half, the boys continued to play some excellent passing football, controlling large parts of the game and creating plenty more opportunities.
DG made it 6-0 after Quinn burst forward down the right and found Alfie, who supplied DG with the ball before he rifled an unstoppable finish high into the net.
Finlay then got himself on the scoresheet after another excellent team move. Patient build up play eventually saw Denis play a great ball in behind the defence, with Finlay poking it past the keeper to make it 7-0.
Jude grabbed the eighth after being played through. His ball across goal found Jamie, who then lifted a cross back over to Jude, allowing him to guide the ball home.
And finally, Spencer completed a superb morning with his fourth goal, after Jack made a strong run down the right and delivered a great cross for Spencer to guide into the net.
Overall, a really impressive performance. We controlled large parts of the game, played some excellent football and, just as importantly, kept the Northstar forwards very quiet.
