We spent a night at anchor in a beautiful and supposedly protected bay with supposedly no wind forecasted for this night. Well, thats it about forecasts that they are not always correct.. it was blowing 25-35 knots which is okay and anchor was holding really well but by night wind has stopped but side swell waves have started.. So we were a bit like in a washing mashine and it was impossible to fall asleep for Tanya. Peti is more lucky, he can just turn off whenever.
We found, that having a strong enough wind is much more pleasant, as the boat is always pointed to the wind, while with the boat move randomly and waves will really hit you sideways making the boat tilt left and right. Even seemingly small waves can send dishes flying if not secured.
So we enjoyed half of the next day there and headed to Saint Tropez to meet with a friend of ours ( Franz Explorer )whom we met before we started to cross canals in Le Havre and who started crossing canals a week later and went with his small catamaran single handed via another route that was too shallow for us.

We spent a few days in another port hiding from strong winds and taking more time for Tanya's recovery. Le Lavandou is a charming seaside town with nice beaches with the most transparent water we saw so far (we could see the bottom under our boat and fishes), cute small restaurants and absolutely amazing floristic decorations of the city. It felt as if the city is a botanical garden with bamboo forests, tonns of flowers and trees.

After Cassis we visited 2 new calanques on the way and arrived to Port Bandol because unfortunately I (Tanya) got sick and wanted to rest in a port for a few days. Bandol was nice but did not grab our spirit too much, apart from 1 thing.. We found THE best croissants and pain au chocolate same as in Paris... They were made with lot of good and pure butter, which is very hard to find nowadays and which gives that special taste.. We enjoyed it in a nearby park multiple times!

If you think that sailing is easy and is all about enjoyment.. then you have never lived on a boat.. living on a boat requires a lot of dedication, great skills of problem solving, learning new things, and constant attention to the surrounding (weather, boats parking/anchoring next to you, what is above/under you etc). Its hard at times, its nervous very often, some things drives us crazy... but we still continue in search for the dream! Dont give up! And don't wait too long to make your dream happen!

From Cassis we went for a small evening hike to visit nearby 2 calanques (fjords) and it was very lovely to finally start hiking with beautiful panorama. This was a 15km hike and Jaffa started to revolt on the back that he is tired and wants to be picked up 😁 he definitely learnt it from Csele who asks to be picked up when we are in cafes because she doesn't like to lay on the floor.. but ofc there was no other way then to go so Jaffa had to follow us all the way back to the boat and he was off to sleep within 5 minutes after we arrived back to the boat..
