Hi everyone,
Three weeks ago, what was supposed to be a celebratory weekend for my bachelor party turned upside down in a split second when a paintball hit my left eye head-on.
After undergoing an initial surgery and consulting some of the best specialists in Marseille, the conclusion is devastating. Unfortunately, I will not regain sight in that eye. 😞
It’s an extremely difficult situation to process, understand, and even more so to accept. I’m going to need time for that, and to learn how to live with this new disability, to find the strength and motivation needed to rebuild a “almost” normal life.
What makes this ordeal even more complicated is the timing. Isa and I are both at important turning points in our respective careers. She has only just returned to high-level competition after becoming a mother, with all the doubts and anxieties that come with it, while on my side I’ve committed myself to an ambitious project that requires a tremendous amount of time and investment. What was already a great challenge for us has now become an even greater one.
What pains me most in all of this is putting Isa through yet another hardship, as if life hadn’t already tested her enough…
Despite everything, we try to keep perspective. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have the family and support system that we have. We’re going to lean on that strength to keep moving forward and continue building what we started.
And with time, maybe the wounds will eventually heal, because time often does its work…
In the meantime, I try to remember how incredibly lucky I’ve been up until now, to live life at 200%, riding some of the most beautiful trails and snow in the world. 🙏
Today, a new life begins. Different, of course, and physically diminished in some ways, but I certainly won’t give up without fighting to keep moving forward.
I haven’t said my last word. 💪
See you soon,
Pouky
Thanks .photos
