They survived!

Today our Interns put their “grey matter” into serious overdrive and diligently fought their way through Physics and Chemistry class like champions. Spending the afternoon working through and explaining atmospheric, hydrostatic and absolute pressure, units of measure, SAC calculations, gas composition, Boyle’s, Dalton’s, Charles’s, and Henry’s gas laws, tension, saturation, diffusion, Archimedes’ Principle, underwater energy, refraction, absorption, sound, mass, weight, and density.

It’s fair to say there was much head-scratching, endless questions, and many rational explanations that concluded with extremely rewarding insights into how all of this relates to their future roles, safety, planning and the dive industry.

The journey continues with excellent support and guidance from Instructors Josh, Kelera and Apen*sa, it’s a great job all around. Well done team!

PROUD MOMENT

Today we celebrate another very proud moment: our amazing Interns successfully completed their Stress & Rescue course as they meticulously take another step toward becoming employable Dive Professionals.

Instructors Kelera, Apen*sa and Josh challenged them at every turn, ensuring all requirements were not only met, but perfected and surpassed. They took no shortcuts, and the participants competently and comfortably demonstrated the ability to not only look after themselves, but their their buddy and their future clients.

Congratulations to our buddy Tim for achieving another step forward in his diving journey. Tim is now officially an Advanced Open Water Diver. Taking this important course opens up a great deal of new opportunities, dive sites and locations as well of course providing both knowledge and skill.

DIVING DOCTORS

Whilst hosting our recent Divers Alert Network (DAN) Continued Medical Education (CME) conference for diving doctors from around the world we also took the opportunity to introduce the underwater world first hand to six of our local Fijian hyperbaric doctors.

Drs. Akuila, Shivankar, Asena, Shane, Sitiveni and Maurice accepted our offer to experience real world diving under the ever vigilant and expert guidance of Instructors Willo and Apen*sa.

At Volivoli Beach Resort and Ra Divers we believe community knowledge sharing is not only vital to growth, development, and understanding, but it is also a key component of our culture. Networking and knowledge sharing make all of us stronger, wiser and safer!

DOUBLE CENTURY

Congratulations on reaching 200 dives, Karla! 200 is a very big milestone, and we were honored to help you celebrate this achievement; we couldn’t think of a better location than the beautiful Bligh Water for such an event.

First Aid

Another wonderful step forward for our current group of enthusiastic interns: they have now successfully completed their React Right, First Aid, CPR, Oxygen Provider, and AED course with flying colours.

This in-depth course covered a wide range of emergency situations encountered both in the workplace and at home. The training culminated in a full day of hands-on practical exercises, exams, presentations, and realistic scenario-based challenges designed to keep them thinking under pressure.

Throughout the course, they were tested on managing broken bones, concussions, dislocations, cuts, severe bleeding, suspected DCI, hypothermia, hyperthermia, eye injuries, chemical burns, and puncture wounds from lionfish, stingrays, and COTS, along with jellyfish stings.

Of course, there were also some friendly competitions along the way, including oxygen assembly challenges and CPR skill drills.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved. This is an excellent achievement and another important step in their professional development. We are extremely proud of their progress!
