The Heart of Leadership
When Navokai Rugby Club approached our coach Mr Leone Nikotimo to lead the team, there were no excuses, no hesitation, and no conditions. It was a simple and immediate response: "I'm ready."
To us, that is what coaching is all about. It is not just about qualifications or experience. It is about having the heart to stand up for your boys, to guide them, mentor them, and help shape them into disciplined young men who understand the value of teamwork, commitment, and respect.
One of the qualities we admire most is his willingness to learn. He is always open to seeking advice and assistance from experienced rugby minds such as Manueli Lagai,Rupeni Tuitai, recognizing the importance of continuous improvement and wanting to strengthen the areas where the team can grow. True leadership is not pretending to know everything, but being humble enough to learn and improve every day.
While he may not yet hold formal coaching qualifications, that does not diminish his passion, dedication, and commitment to the team. As Navokai Rugby Club continues to grow, obtaining coaching certifications is certainly part of his journey ahead.
For now, we are grateful for a coach who leads with his heart, believes in his players, and is willing to walk alongside them every step of the way.
