WABA TOOK PROFESSIONAL BOXING TO ETHIOPIA

World Alliance Boxing Association (WABA) sanctioned maiden professional boxing in the country of Ethiopia on March 31, 2024.
The event witness three WABA SA
supreme titles in contention bringing Tanzania, Ugandan and Kenyan counterparts to pair with their host Ethiopia.
Abraham Alem opened the Semiprofessional hatchery by disposing Kenyan Meshack Okuku in the shortest rumble of the evening while Ethiopian beauty Goddess emerged the winner by unanimous points decision against her Kenyan opponent Eveline Akinyi.
In the main fight of the evening Ignatius Onyango retained his Cruiserweight championship against Tanzanian walkover Mbaruku Kheri who failed to answer the second round bell.
Ethiopian State minister of Culture and Sports together with the President of WABA were the main official dignitaries including the President of Ethiopia Boxing Federation.
The historical professional event was the masterpiece of the Ethiopian Canadian Solomon Bereh through his Solo International Sports Promotion (SISP) and was sanctioned by WABA.
The event was held at the massive Adwa Museum in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and wrote history in the making for future generations.
